Quoted from Honch:

Let me get this straight. Its your "grail" game and you're going to sell it because its in great shape for the price you paid? Thats the most convoluted logic I've heard in quite awhile.
Enjoy your find and play it till it looks like what you paid for it. If it was just a game you bought to try out, I'd flip it, but not when it's a game you've always wanted.

Again...... just so everyone knows.... I’m keeping this game! I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t have the smallest thought of selling the game because it’s pristine. But yes, it’s a grail game and #1 for a reason. This will stay in my collection for as long as I live and then pass down to my 5 year old who loves pinball.

What’s with the rings on prop bars. Seen them before and Always wondered what the purpose was??

To hold the playfield prop rod in place during shipping.

Disclaimer : Just kidding. That is about the finest TZ you are going to find in the wild that isn't run out or restored. Congratulations !

Well.... I will put this out there to the pin heads. I live in northwest Phoenix area. Anyone that wants to play, bring over a 12 pack and lets enjoy!! I’m serious!

What's the tag below the shooter rod and in side the cab above the tilt bob? Operator tags? Unfortunately looks like someone at some point installed the front legs in the upper set of leg holes and it chewed up the cab some. Nice tz overall and i miss my super minty one i had for 4 years. Enjoy it ..super fun pin.

Wow that’s a sticker I’ve never seen before..

Quoted from fast_in_muskoka:

I've always wondered if there is a UV type wax that would protect cabinets with potential for sun / UV fade.

I use Pinhedz UV Cabinet Pro on my TZ and other pins if they are going to have exposure to any UV light whatsoever. Works great!

Hey there, you left off the last part of my post!!
Anyway I'm glad to see you came to your senses. Keeping it in the family is the cool thing to do.

That sticker looks familiar and I haven't had it in me to remove mine yet either. Congrats on the pickup OP and if it's one of your grail games you are crazy if you decide to sell. And like yours mine cost less then a NIB Stern pro too.

Thanks for the suggested UV stuff. I’ll get some!

Some games shipped with it. The Addams Family, Twilight Zone, and Judge Dredd come to mind. As I recall uncrating them when they were new.

For $30 you can buy window tint from Home Depot and protect everything in the room at the same time.

You guys have bill balls leaving your TZs around that much daylight.

Y'know, if you're never going to sell it, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about the side art, does it?

Diddent games come with black rubber.
Enjoy it. TZ is my grail pin as well.

They were both colors from factory.

So again, yes. I will be keeping this machine in my HOU environment. No reason to sell it. Here are some photos of the right side of the cabinet which looks brand new. Ok just so stoked about this purchase.
And the translite is spotless!!
[quoted image][quoted image]

Keep it and enjoy. Get the metal hidden leg protectors to keep it perfect. Be careful to put the back ones in the right holes.

Who is bill?

As said above, get a cover for the cabinet & head, or move it somewhere it's not going to get blasted by sunlight.

Also don't understand the logic of even considering selling it if its genuinely your grail pin. Presumably since it was in an auction and probably an unusual item in amongst normal ones (e.g. an estate sale) that you probably got it for a great price, so why would you even consider it unless you secretly just want to flip it?

#72 4 years ago

On the flip side - redecalling a cabinet is not fun, and if you can avoid doing it in the first place by a really simple precaution then why not just do that? As was said above you could just tint the window and avoid any UV damage to stuff in the room (e.g. furniture).

His too.

I made sure my TZ was in absolute darkness. Not sure how long it takes for red to fade out, but my guess is not long.

#74 4 years ago

Wow that would never.....NEVER EVER leave my collection if I had it. TWILIGHT ZONE is one of the most enjoyable pinball machines out there despite it's age....it's a ALL-TIME GREAT! Congratulations on the find!

My HUO TZ still had the Bally sticker on the glass. I miss that machine...

#77 4 years ago

Be careful though, I've had games in a room that I put uv window tint on, and granted over a longer period of time, they still faded. A cover is still your best bet. Nice looking game BTW.

I'd cover it, wouldn't trust any product to block all the sun. Not the worst issue in the world, but why risk ruining a beautiful original cabinet

#79 4 years ago

All my machines are now covered! Thanks for all the tips. Full covers including backboxes. Good stuff.
