So I was out one night on patrol and I stopped at one of the gas stations in my district to check on the workers there. I noticed this flyer on one of the windows:

image.jpegimage.jpeg

On a whim, I texted the number on October 21st. The contest ended on 11/28 and on Monday (this past Monday) I got a text back from the number I texted saying I had won. I needed to click a link and follow the instructions to claim the prize. Warily, I clicked it and was sent to this site heywinner.com and filled out my name, DOB and address.

image_5.pngimage_5.png

I wasn't required to purchase anything. I was told I had to fill out a publicity and liability waiver, have it notorized and mail it to a sweepstakes fulfillment company in PA by next week. It said I would be sent a form 1099 for tax purposes. It did ask for my social. If I had any questions I was given an email address to ask any questions. I emailed a Jen Rusell and asked if this was legit. She apparently works for a company called AYC Media and said it was.

I faxed a copy of the notorized letter but Jen said it had to be mailed so I mailed it late Monday night. I was certain she would have received it Friday. I emailed her but got no response, calling the number and ext she had on her emails as her work number only got her voice mail.

I have a mind to fill out another affidavit and have it express overnight mailed on Monday so they def receive it before Wednesday. This arcades value is listed at $5000. I plan on selling it when it arrives. If it actually arrives.

Has anyone here every won a sweepstakes like this? Did you have to go through similar hoops? Does this sound legit?

I win the bush hunting sweepstakes every other night.

#3 8 years ago

Haha nice. I've never won something like this so I don't know what to think.

#4 8 years ago

Probably phishing........ I'd let it go.

#5 8 years ago

Aww boo no. I'm going to call Anheuser-Busch customer support in the morning.

#6 8 years ago

The scammier they make it seem after you're already committed, the more likely they don't have to pay out a cent.

If you want to find out if it's legit, contact Busch directly using a number you didn't get from these sweepstakes people. Someone should be willing to confirm or deny if this promotion is legitimate, and they would definitely want to know about it if it isn't. You have nothing to lose sending a certified letter at this point if the information has already been sent via fax and post.

#7 8 years ago

Yea I'm contacting Busch in the morning. Chances are they won't be open till Monday.

I do find it weird that I can't find a single thing online promotion wise about the contest.

#8 8 years ago

I haven't found anything about this one, but looks like they have ran several A-B related sweepstakes in the past.

You gave them your SSN ? Doh!!

#10 8 years ago

I know. Kind of a red flag there.

#11 8 years ago

It just seems like a super elaborate scheme in order to get my personal information which to be honest, is not that hard to do in this day and age.

A-B is closed today but I'll be calling in the morning. Here is the affidavit I had to get notorized and filled out.

Got this email from Jen saying she received the affidavit.

I called Anheuser-Busch and they asked that I sent over all emails and photos I had and they would pass them on to their promotion department and get back to me tomorrow. We'll see. Fingers crossed.

Someone has to win... I don't know about the whole SSN thing but it's probably because they have to report the win for tax purposes. The biggest prize I've won was a PS3 bundle from Subway which turned me into a sweepstakes believer (I enter my damn codes on my McDonalds fries!). I assume it's a bigger hassle when the prize is over $600.

#14 8 years ago

So did you hear back from A-B today?

#15 8 years ago

If you get it and want to sell for a deal, PM me.

To me it looks legit like you won. congrats

#16 8 years ago

I called A-B today (I'm not the most patient fellow) and they said their promotions department was still "looking into it" and they would be calling me back in a day or so. I can't imagine the amount of promotions or advertisements that a company like this puts out nation/worldwide so I'm sure their promotion department is quite large.

Thanks Whysnow. I don't know which version of this game will show up and whether it'll have coin mechs or not. I'll def post pictures when I know more.

I'm either going to sell it for cash at a discount from what it's going for msrp or I have been toying with the idea of trading it for a nice Elvis plus some cash or an XMLE. But we all know how this site feels about pins vs arcade games.

That's cool for you if it ends up being legit. Congrats. Keep an eye out on your credit card charges if it's not true.

#18 8 years ago

Thanks bud. Will do. I'll post pics when/if it arrives. I wish I was more into the hunting theme but I'd rather have the cash or a new pin

And you have to report it as earnings!!

#20 8 years ago

That's fine by me. Selling it or trading it for a pin and I'm still coming out ahead having to claim it.

I'm sure it's no different than winning at a casino over a certain amount or at a game show. All those cash and prizes have to be claimed as income right? Still worth it.

#21 8 years ago

Just commenting so I can follow this thread. Congrats man. I hope you get it.

#22 8 years ago

Congrats I hope everything is on the up and up. It's nice to see fellow pinheads win contests. Even if it isn't exactly pinball....

Just an F.Y.I. you can follow it by making it a "favorite" (at the top right of the page).....or by simply pulling up "topics which you viewed". Of course your way works also

#24 8 years ago

Thanks guys. I'll keep the thread updated. I'm leaning heavy towards a trade for an Elvis plus cash or an XMLE or just straight cash. So a pin may still be the end result of the sweepstakes.

#25 8 years ago

Elvis vs XMLE.......is that even a tough decision? (Hint....XMLE!)

#26 8 years ago

So did they confirm if it was a legitimate contest?

#27 8 years ago

I can't tell you for sure if that is legit or not, but working for an A-B distributor I can say that it certainly looks like a ton of the contests that they run. They do have 3rd party marketing companies handle the contests and deal with the entries and prizes so that much seems legit.

Hope it's for real, let us know!

#28 8 years ago

Hopefully this is legit! It certainly seems more elaborate and well constructed than a normal phishing scam

#29 8 years ago

No call from A-B today. Jen from the marketing company said I would be contacted by them by the end of the week and if I wasn't to hit her back up.

I'm hopeful for a call from A-B tomorrow. Hope they tell me this is coming home for an early Christmas:

Interesting. I checked some sites and EBAY and they don't include the HD monitor with the game. Is that a current trend with this type of game??

#31 8 years ago

Heck if I know bud. The flyer said HD monitor so I guess we will see. I know when it arrives I'll have a case of Busch beer to crack open in its honor.

#32 8 years ago

Even without the monitor it is worth $5,000. I wouldn't sweat it. Either way you win it seems.

Just got a call from A-B. I won it! They said it being a local sweepstakes, it took a bit longer to verify than a nationwide one.

They gave me the number to the local distributor who is in charge of delivering the prize. I have their number and will call tomorrow as they are closed already.

Pretty cool!

#34 8 years ago

That's awesome

#35 8 years ago

F-R-A-G-I-L-E...... It must be from Italy!

#36 8 years ago

congrats!

#37 8 years ago

Hell yeah! Congrats!

You'll have to let us know what pin you get in exchange for it since we've been on this rollercoaster ride with you.

#38 8 years ago

Very cool. Good to know ya didn't get scammed! Hope it arrives before Christmas for you. Cheers!

#39 8 years ago

This is awesome. What a present!

#40 8 years ago

Congrats!

#41 8 years ago

Yea it's nice to see someone actually win a contest like this. Remember when AMC had the walking dead pinball machine give away each week. You would think at least one winner would have stopped by on the forums.

#42 8 years ago

Holy shit, 24 likes. You guys are good people. Everyone is welcome over anytime. Busch beer is on me.

Can I BYO?

#44 8 years ago

Called the local distributor and of course their promotions rep is out of the office till Monday. I left a lengthy voicemail and will call back on Monday.

#45 8 years ago

congratz!

#46 8 years ago

I may have to take a road trip LOL

I was getting the run around but we are making progress:

heh. I know exactly where germantown, tn is (if you're ever in the area, you need to hit up 'the flying saucer' bar

#49 8 years ago

i would edit address out of the pic. but congratz!

#50 8 years ago

Haha yea the flying saucer is very popular here.

My address is all over this site. It's public information. I don't care. If someone came to my house looking for a problem, they'd def find one. But thanks
