I have a 2018 BRZ with 18K miles but I have not been driving it much, last year only like 2K miles. How often should the oil be changed if it's only like 2K miles per year? I use full synthetic oil and had been changing at 6K miles or so.

I would check manual. I think it's recommended every 5k miles or 6 months

At least once a year even with super low miles like 2k.

My criteria: it needs to sound mean.

Love sleeper cars - here is my 2013 CTSV. Install remote controlled cutouts or update the stock exhaust and it is one of the loudest machines you will hear on the road. 6.2L V8 with 556HP stock = sh*t ton of torque and 3.9 second 0-60 runs.

I do not get pulled over much because it is pretty inconspicuous. Always funny when you roll up at a light and beat out the flashy sports cars, this thing will dust a Ferrari California as is. Best part is it is quiet when you want it to be.

Car is inexpensive to mod and many standard parts are shared with regular CTS which 100,000s were produced so low cost to maintain. Have seen these cars modded up to 1000HP.

A 2012 - 2018 style CTSV can be had for about $40k with under 50k miles.

98 Eclipse Spyder GS-T

You're making me miss mine. I'm assuming you can figure out where my username came from now.

I smashed it into a concrete barrier years and years ago. I wish I could say I was driving 120mph, but I was getting off an exit driving normally around a slight curve. My DD was in the shop and the Eclipse had high performance summer only tires on and it was freezing outside. You can guess how that ended.

Looks like you have probably the same laundry list of bolt-ons that I had on mine. Then again, that turbo looks a little large to be the standard EVO 16g. The sound of the BOV at 24psi was intoxicating, but the lack of usable power was frustrating.

I loved that thing and I'm sad that it's gone.

That guy was/is a rock star when it came to tuning DSMs. He helped me with my first SAFC-II tune way back in the day.

Oh, and I have a funny feeling that your list was more than $10k.

Yea that's all great but you should know Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.

Happy to see people still posting their cars in this thread.

Did not get anything yet sadly. I thought pin prices went nuts until I researched used car prices which continued to climb as i browsed them lol. So decided to do what i could never do when i started collecting pinball machines - exercise some patience. Will they come back down? No. Not until i buy one. Then probably haha.

However, i know i would love a Gen 2 Viper. I prefer it over the Gen 1 for the detail in the hood. And over the Gen 3 since they got rid of the clamshell. REALLY wish i had of figured this out a couple years ago when prices to me seemed more reasonable. I’d do the R/T 10 though i do prefer the tail on the GTS. Typically a little less and the wife gets the open top. Lots of fun roads around here, with no idling in traffic. Just the deer to Dodge (pun intended)….

I went to the car show in Carlisle this year and got to see a very nice lineup of Vipers and talked to some of their owners. I think there was 15 or more at that show. Glad i went. I still have a softspot for a ‘78 trans am (bandit style) or a C3, both for the nostalgia of it all (born in 74).

Maybe i cud trade a pin for one. It worked for the guy who picked up that Delorean on here right??

No, I don't own it any more. I made a bad decision in the summer and it's gone. I wish I had it back, that is all...

I decided to be 'happier' this spring, summer and fall so I am waiting on delivery of a new convertible to replace the one I (stupidly) sold. It means selling some games, but that's just the way it is I guess.

My three weekend cars.
Well the Ranchero is more of a daily/family hauler but it should count as a weekend car.
The Austin is by far the most fun car I have.
The Viper is my dream-come-true.

I Highly recommend one of these 2013 Ferrari California 30 with the Handling Speciale Package. Plenty Fast, Relatively Comfortable, and has enough room for 2 small kids or some luggage for a weekend trip. Although as soon as my Daughter is old enough to ride in the front seat I want to upgrade to a 458 (if they dont get too much more expensive...)

I had a Testarossa poster on my wall as a kid, more Models than I can count. I had a goal to own one before I was 40... 39 Years and 8 Months I bought my first. They are expensive to own, maintain, but the smiles per mile are unmatched. As a bonus its worth more than I paid for it two years ago so the taxes and maintenance don't seem soo bad!

#293 1 year ago

A W211 has everything. Arguably best Mercedes ever made. Owned one for several years and had to lose it when I had the kids
It’s beautiful, fairly roomy, and FAST and LOUD. Blow the doors off most Corvettes.
Also, here’s the kicker, it’s reliable. Yes. Replace the air suspension with coils (which most already have it done) and you’re good to go. It really is a great car and one day I will get another. Probably not a W211 E55 because they will be collectible and expensive but right now you can find a nice one for around 20-25 grand. One with lower miles and proper maintenance. It’s a fully aspirated V8 power house that you can also go get groceries with

I am absolutely not a car guy. In fact, I own three comfortably crappy cars: ’97 Subaru Outback, ’97 Dodge Grand Caravan and a really paint faded ’97 Honda Civic SE. The Caravan was my ex-wife’s and when we split up oh so long ago she left it behind. It is a great pinball and bicycle auto. The Civic was my daughter’s in high school and college. Unfortunately, the timing belt broke going over Vail pass. I put a new rebuilt engine in it twelve years ago and so far so good.

I did say that I was not much of a car guy. I do own my middle aged crisis car: a 2006 Honda S2000. It currently has less than 18,000 miles on it and I bought it used with less than 5,000 on the odometer. I never waxed a car before this one and now it is strictly hand rubbed carnauba wax. Just like a pinball playfield and the car has custom fit cover. I put on a nice Italian jacket (Canali) and sunglasses (Persols), put the top down and I am a different man. The best thing about it is that it is a Honda: über reliable and inexpensive to maintain. They have now started to get a bit of a cult following.

I always thought it did the original Boxster thing better than Porsche.

Before I retired I worked with some serious car guys. One of them was the sort who went to Munich to pick up his custom M something BMW with a custom colour to match. He races cars on the weekend. He would go on and on about how great the S2000 was. Whenever I see him he wants to know if the S2000 is for sale. Apparently it had some very serious engineering. The engines were "hand made" whatever that means.

I picked up my weekender last year but it needed some TLC after sitting in a guys barn for 32 years. 32 years of sitting is not kind to the fuel tank so that was the first thing to go.
Went to the dollar store in it on Friday. A elderly fella that worked there told me that it was the nicest car he had ever seen in that parking lot. I said “ thanks… I think…”
