Quoted from MrSanRamon:

Pete, thanks for the response. Not sure what the deal is with the flippers, I thought that stern fixed that issue quite awhile ago.

Sometimes they tighten the flippers too tight so there's no "play". Do you have a flipper gap tool? It might be worth "re-gapping" the flipper bats.

I've never had the pops hang up some of you guys are having. Lucky, I guess! Exits every time.

ST definitely doesn't have the nuance of some other games...but I still am finding it very fun and it doesn't feel wood-choppy due to the way you can pick your missions. If I don't feel like doing all the Level 1's, I'll try to do all 3 'episodes' of a mode instead. I know this isn't the "tournament way" of approaching things, but I like when pinball has a narrative, so I find this enjoyable. I love the Multiballs & the tight Vengeance shot (and kickback). Klingon Multiball is super fun and I find it challenging to get the Double & Super Jackpot...I *LOVE* the Klingon voice. I really love the music in the game, even if it's not ripped from the movie...Thiel did an amazing score that evokes Star Trek while being original. And, of course - it just feels really great to shoot. Getting multiple Warp ramps in a row is addicting and feels good. At the end of the day, sure it's not perfect - but the entire package is just really compelling and addicting, IMO. It can only get better with updates.

Quoted from Aurich:

Lyman just confirmed that recently actually (in the PAPA.tv tournament broadcast/interview), so not a rumor, and he also confirmed that it was the origin of making the shot work on Star Trek.

There's still an option in the settings for that shot to work that way in SM...so, you could "hack" your game to let the ball go back to the shooter lane and it would work as intended. I'm pretty sure I remember a few people doing this and posting pics.

Quoted from Aurich:

Dude, you bought a game who's theme you hated, and then you sold it. That doesn't mean you're the start of a trend.

LOL....

People forget that not everyone's looking for the same thing in every game.

Remember when IM and Tron came out and all the experts instantly proclaimed that they were garbage based on the simpler features and 'shallow' code. Now the majority love those games, and deeper games are being more scrutinized for being "wood choppy".

Unless a game is TRULY boned and full of bugs, most negative comments about a game are relatively subjective & tend to be from a vocal minority....doesn't mean people aren't enjoying it a ton - they're just not posting on Pinside about it.
