While trying to find my controlled lamp problem. I unplugged CN4 out of Power supply board. I then proceeded to plug it in incorrectly (go ahead and do it, I am as well) after turning it on and finding that screw up, fixing it, they still do not work. Was planning on taking this to Louisville Expo tomorrow so I need to fix it fast.

I'm surprised nobody is at least taking this opportunity to make fun of me.

That's why I am here.

I just checked and all the connectors are fine, fuses are fine. I still get connection from the PS board to the CPU. I am about to swap out the PS board with a spare I have just so I feel I am doing something. Any input is of course greatly appreciated.

OK replacement PS board is of no help. Any ideas, the transport vehicle is coming in about T minus 3 hours ... crickets.

#8 12 years ago

What's your problem? No lamps at all?

#9 12 years ago

GI works fine, flashers work fine, no Controlled lamps and no Inserts lighting up.

#10 12 years ago

you may have blown the chip that controls them by plugging it in the wrong way. That's my guess.

But wait...you tried another board with no help so thats not it.

so the problem is with the wiring at the plug.

Recheck that plug and wires..spacifically the wire that carries the power

#11 12 years ago

The wires from the PS to the CPU are all fine, so should I check CPU to lamps? What about crashing something on the CPU?
I just went through all the lamps in test mode so it is not something in game play that crashed.

If I read correctly, he tried replacing the power board - not the driver board. So you may still be correct about a blown chip.

Yeah the only thing I replaced was the PS board. I do have another DE machine I can test with. What should I try?

#14 12 years ago

Well the obvious first question is do you have 18VDC at CN4 on the Power board and at CN4 on the MPU?

#15 12 years ago

And when you say you plugged CN4 on the power supply wrong, what did you do? If you reversed it, you didn't hurt anything as the upper and lower 4 wires are ground and the middle 4 are 18VDC. So reversing it, you would still have the same alignment of power.

swap out the driver board and see what happens.

Crisis averted. I talked to robertmee on the phone and he walked me through it. It was a fuse I had checked but it beeped...anyways fixed.
