Totally agree. The whimsy of B/W era pins is sorely lacking in the mostly "oh so serious" Sterns. There are obvious exceptions to this, but generally speaking I think its true. For a recent Stern AV has a lot of humor in it. In fact, I'd say it was designed to be a funny game. Unlike games that have some humor but overall are more serious or neutral (TF, IM, ST, ACDC).

You want humor in pinball. Handle tech support for one day. There is lots of humor out there.

Quoted from yzfguy:

Dude, I have a few years on you and I hope I never get that old!

Oh I'm young at heart for sure, but I don't still play four square and ride a bike to school. Come on man you know what I mean, you have to admit that with the current market of who is buying pinball machines they could make things great. I'm still for the odd family friendly machine but I would love a Blade Runner or Aliens with some violence. I guess the Sopranos is one pin with an adult theme. I would also enjoy some more horror movie based pinball with all the blood and gore that comes with that.

Quoted from Fairground:

MM: The Duke of Bourbon - "Come on in, and we'll take this outside" & "It's Happy Hour"

Also - "Where's the bathroom?"

Cracks me up every time.

+1, a few years and I just may go watch some Flintstones after work tonight

I too miss the humor in pinball these days. I think the licensed themes have something to do with it but perhaps it's just a lack of a good comedian on the staff, as I think humor requires a different type of creativity.

Some of the lines in the Avengers and WOZ make me smile though.

Don't worry, Big Lebowski Pin should be hilarious, dude.

Quoted from Hazoff:

I could not be happier that the cheesy bad humour of the 90's pins has all but disappeared, for me anyway it made pinball seem childish and it still exists in the form of terrible call outs. I grew up in the 90's but I'm turning 40 this year and want my pinball to be mature not x rated or anything just not kiddie, I don't watch cartoons anymore and cheer for action hero's on TV thus keep it out of my pinball. Metallica as an example is a great game with enough older tunes to keep me happy until I change them all but the call outs are brutal, I enjoyed playing my CV,MM,SS etc. but the humour and talk back sucked. Just my opinion.

We all find ways to cling to the 80's and 90's or our youth in general. Some do it through music - some do it through cartoons and action heros. Both are ok though - but you get that.

AMH has excellent RFM like humor.

Anything that Ben Heck puts his hands on seems to turn out this way. The guy can code/design/engineer and be very funny.

I agree that the funniest pins were mid-late Bally/Williams and loved some of it. I wish more of it was in pins today.
Maybe they need to hire some good comedians with the music staff.

I didn't realize it until yesterday, but just about all of my games fit into this category
POTC
CFTBL
AFM
SS
WH20
FH
FT
All have some cheese factor(not counting the ol' em), so I must be a fan

True but that is by default more so than by design.
