As an American, where the health care industry is "for profit", unfortunately it IS a huge factor, and the very reason many can't retire when they want.

I don't handle free time all that well. I think I'd get bored too, or spend more time doing things I want to do (reading, working on games) than things i SHOULD do (paint the house, etc). Kinda like present day.

Odin, I was going to reply to your remark about Michigan as "bum fuck Egypt" but decided not to. Us old guys should stick together.

As an aside: Of the people I know that moved to California, only one stayed. My stepbrother packed up his station wagon at 19, aimed it west, and never looked back. He's 62 this year, and the sole exception.

Personally I wish I'd given it a stab when I was younger - our bass player wanted to head to SoCal in the late 80s, but I had a good job and the family is here, so here I stayed. Winters do seem shorter though nowadays.

Quoted from seeburg220:

Thanks. I kept the interior original, only replacing the carpet (these pics don't show that, though). This was the Kingsley model. Models were differentiated by colors and floorplan layout. Also, they made GMC's in 23' and 26' versions. This was the 26' and more of those were made. 1978 was the last year they made them.

The spare tire cover is from '78 too!! Nice!
