I don’t get much time to build these day but I will get to them eventually!

A few years ago, my 11 year old son built this contraption. I thought it was pretty cool. (The yellow and orange sides look the same in the video for some reason at the end, but they are clearly different in person)

I built the R2 D2 Droid last christmas and really enjoyed the build. I am wondering what I am building this Christmas.

AT-AT done:
20211212_114923 (resized).jpg20211212_114923 (resized).jpg

Still needs a permanent home, so I might need to add more shelves. It's pretty stable all things considered, but there are a bunch of parts that can break off pretty easily when moving it. There are also gaps in the head, which is to be expected given how strange the angles are.

I suppose it wouldn't be impossible to motorize this, but I don't know how stable it'd be. All of the leg joints can be adjusted by turning an axle, so with 8 motors and a controller you could move each of them. They had that motorized AT-AT variant back in what...2007 or so?

Just sold some Lego for a decent price, thinking that'd go into the next-pinball fund, but apparently my wife has new furniture in mind instead...

Found a permanent home for the new AT-AT. Moved the old AT-AT and the UCS snowspeeder over to keep it company:

A couple of projects that came out of Covid. Still putting the lights in the last one, and I would like to get a light set for the coaster. I am not sure Lego would appreciate the Godzilla rampage, but I'm good with it.

Is that Razor crest a MOC, or the official set with an added stand? Looks nice.

I never ended up getting the UCS shuttle or SSD, but I've got most of the other big older Star Wars sets. Started back in 2000/2001 with the UCS X-Wing/Interceptor, and just kept going:

Here is my current Lego display. Apollo V rocket, lunar lander, Space Shuttle with Hubble telescope and International Space Station. It’s been up for about 6 months so I’ll change it sometime after the first of the year.

I hadn’t really bought much in Lego for quite sometime but this year I picked up 1989 Batmobile, 1989 Batwing, 1966 Batmobile, Ultimate Tumbler, Optimus Prime, Back to the Future Delorean, mini Haunted Mansion, mini Disney Castle, Speed Champions Countach and DB5, and Galaxy Explorer. A few other small sets as well. Lots of building to do.

The LEGO bag they gave me for the Eiffel Tower is ginormous! 2 sets of 2 different length straps. I though it might be a backpack.

#278 1 year ago

Can the apartment fit in the tower, or is it just a separate stand alone set? I heard the tower is like 5 feet tall, and it would be cool to have the two sets combine

Just wrapped up brickfest in VA. Highly recommended for next year. Just l99k at some others builds... or pick up lego scale pinball machines.

Whoa, that's amazing!

I've pretty much limited myself to the Star Wars UCS ships at this point, and considering how big they are, only the ships I really like. That's not that hard to do considering the prices. I still haven't pulled the trigger on the x-wing. I missed the y-wing and b-wing on the first pass, so I'll probably grab those when/if they get redone.

I also like the SW dioramas. I grabbed the JP t-rex chase, and the trench run. I think the throne room duel would make for a good topper, I'm just not quite sure how to secure it.

I was just about to say that I thought there was only one UCS Y-Wing, but I'd forgotten they'd done a new one in 2018. I've still got the original 2004 version here. Those UCS ships are what got me in the door though-still waiting for a TIE Bomber to finish that collection of ships (now that they finally did the A-Wing). Just like pinball though, space is at a premium.

What are everyone's favorite current sets? I have the Tron set and my kids love Lego in general. I was thinking about getting some sets to do with my kids for fun. I like the nostalgic stuff they have been coming out with; Indiana Jones, Back To The Future, Transformers, Atari and since I have most of that stuff in other form I think they would appreciate it too. Any other ones that come to mind that would be good to check out?

I got my wife the orchid set for Christmas, I think she want to put it in the one bathroom.

I’d love to build the nes or Atari 2600 set

The recent Batwing was an instant-buy for me, and more fun to put together than I thought. I have the Batmobile to go with it, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I really enjoyed building the galaxy explorer and it has some really neat play features too. P1040745 (resized).JPGP1040745 (resized).JPG The lighting kit I added to it was quite challenging but the results are cool. I also really like some of the botanical sets Lego has been doing lately.

It's been an expensive month... I just got this a few weeks ago, but sort of miscalculated where it could fit. I need to rethink this section of the collection:

PXL_20231124_144806444.MP (resized).jpgPXL_20231124_144806444.MP (resized).jpg

PXL_20231124_144818181 (resized).jpgPXL_20231124_144818181 (resized).jpg

It's a really cool build though. Compared to the old Star Destroyer, it's rock solid. The way the top/bottom attach to the frame is pretty brilliant.

I also just ordered the new Avengers Tower set. They got me with stacking 3 GWPs on a single order... There are some good deals to be had this weekend though-the Razor Crest is 30% off, and definitely worth getting. I think the 2600 set is discounted too-also a nice build.

I should have enough points to get the Museum modular for close to free next month, but after that I think I have to stop for a while. Just like pinball, you run out of space.

#295 7 months ago

I also like that Galaxy Explorer set. The castle ones are fantastic and they are doing a great job recreating past sets. For sure some nostalgia feel there and also really clever how they are engineered and designed. New, young Lego builders would definitely enjoy those.

Eldorado Fortress is a good set and so is the Lion Knights' Castle. The big set is 25% off right now with the Black Friday deals.

I still have some of these old sets from when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. Pretty cool seeing the old and new beside each other. This moon landing set I had not even realized I had until putting together all my old sets and figuring out what the remaining pieces went to.
