WOW! I finally reached “? Multiball”, and it is truly fantastic. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a heart pounding experience as much I as did while playing Zep. Super cool wizard modes, and the intro to ? Multiball is just great. Scoring does seem to get out of hand with the unlimited victory lap supers for 30 seconds, but it’s still such a great feeling nailing those ramps. If you haven’t played it yet, do yourself a favor and find one!

3 ball game?

#4 3 years ago

Threads like this reinforce my suspicion that I suck at pinball.

#5 3 years ago

Yep. I did have extra balls enabled, but limited to 3.

The new update definitely seems to increase scoring. I had 32 X bonus which totaled over 100 million.

#6 3 years ago

Record your score in Pindigo. It’s the highest by a wide margin.

#7 3 years ago

Dang nice! And on a Pro as well, very well done! I’m glad you’re loving the game!

So you just have to get that bonus 54 times... easy!

Shots are really fun to hit and combo. That’s for sure.

My biggest score came prior to the last updates, and was all about big Icarus X. I would have qualified ? Wizard mode, but it wasn’t in the code at that point.

Even with the higher bonus with the new update, I do agree 5.4 billion seems ridiculous. My previous best was 2.7 billion which also seemed crazy, but I didn’t get to top of the charts or “?”. Looking at the rules, I never thought I would have gotten to the main wizard mode as getting all platinums is quite a task, but I didn’t realize top of the charts is very similar to sea of simulation. The mode just cycles through all of the songs you haven’t played yet, and makes it pretty easy to platinum them. Every time you “beat” a song in that mode, it also adds a ball along with a ball saver. I scored around a billion in that mode, 2 billion in “?” and got most of the other points from world tour and mothership multiball.

I get excited when I hit 974 points in King of Diamonds. Adjusted for inflation that's....not even close.

Damn! Nicely done. It really is all about timing when to use the multipliers.

Stop screwing and put the glass back on!
Kidding aside ... nice score !

#15 3 years ago

wow! that's crazy!

#16 3 years ago

To me, a billion is still a million million. Congrats on your 5436m score.

Is your abacus broken?

#18 3 years ago

That’s incredible! Outstanding work! I’ll never come close to that.

LZ is turning out to be a really fun game.

Hats off to you both, those are truly mega-high scores.

This game is coming together really nicely. Folks who haven't played one yet have a real treat in store, for sure.

Man, I have yet to break 1 billion on any of my stern games lol. Shows me just how much my skills have to improve

#24 3 years ago

this past weekend the highest score in the entire tourney was around 100 million on a zep pro by very good players.
Guess it just pends how its set up. The pitch, feeds, posts, tilt, settings, Flipper rubber type/color. Scores between one game and another is pointless. one feed can change the game. The Stranger things pro at the tourney had a nasty feed from the mystery when it kicked the ball out to the left it came down, nailed the sling, and went where it wanted. Mostly led to right out lane drains with a too tight of a tilt to nudge to save. Never saw anyone go over 250 million the entire event on that.
Setup matters.

#30 3 years ago

Do the newer Sterns ever turn over at a certain score? Are there any games that count a trillion?

#31 3 years ago
Quoted from VanishingVision:

According to Lyman, “The latest version of the code uses 64-bit scoring, so you should be able to score 18,446,744,073,709,551,615‬ points now before it rolls over.”

Great scores! I have a strange question about scoring I can’t figure out.
It seems that when playing a multiplayer game that player one is able to score very high point values 10-16 mil. immediately on if they’re able to hit lit lanes/ramps. However, once player two begins those same shot values are half as much? 4-5 mil. Does anyone notice that? It doesn’t seem to matter the song choice either...any help would be appreciated Thanks!

Buggy code per usual in every stern release. Will get fixed in a future update I'm sure.

Welcome to discussion on pinside! (noticed it was your very first post)

No, I have not experienced this. I've played a lot a LZ, and understand the scoring pretty well.
1) Make sure you have the latest code, or encourage the operator to install the latest code. Visit Stern's website under Support and Game Code to see which is the current code rev. Among many modern games (and certainly not just Sterns), there are sometimes score variables in the code that don't get properly reset or kept unique between players. And I've found that each pinball company fixes those scoring bugs very quickly.

2) Initial song shot values are nowhere near 10-15M per shot -- I believe they start out less than 1M. In terms of difference in value for what you perceive to be the same shot, I would guess that P1 had their Icarus playfield multiplier running, while P2 did not. There are also some nuances of how LZ song shot value builds within a song, and even within one *section* (chorus, verse, etc) that do no carry to your next song or section.

If you have a video you can capture this behavior and share it, I'll try to help that way, too. I'm on one of the game's programmer's (Raymond Davidson) Discord servers and message/discuss LZ with him regularly.

Hahaha. Yeah, I think I recall a video of that.

Note: in my case on LZ, there's no malfunction. I did make note on another forum that the tilt is loose.
Mainly, it's a LOT of nurturing the multiplier garden by shooting L orbit combos, and cashing them out with the Super Band Boost action button. Must be able to live catch on the LZ copy that you play to make this work.
