Route ops who did not have a box truck moved pins this way all the time in the '70's & 80's.
I worked at Bally Midwest (former Empire Distributing) briefly in the early '80's and would see the new fly-by-night operators pick up new pins & vids just like that. They were not even capable of unboxing a new pin so they had the distributor do it and they picked it up and took it directly to a location.
