This was our last month power bill $7.29 (meter charge) but we have 9.2 kw DIY solar installed.
Soon to be 12.5 kw to help cover the power hungry AC usage in the south.

Here is a link to our Enphase solar array.

    Quoted from dito:

here's my current bill... $-87. with a total bill of -$121 so far

You don’t get a basic facilities meter charge?
We get a 7.29 meter charge no mater what.
Do they Zero you out once a year? They do here but you just donate that power to Duke power.

    Quoted from dito:

i do have basic meter charge, almost $12 (damn California!), but i still generated more to offset it.

They do not let us off set the basic meter charge here I wish they did.
We can carry credit to the next month but we cannot offset the basic meter charge.

The least my power bill can be for the year is $87.48 that is in I generate all my power.
this is $7.29 meter charge x 12 Months =$87.48 (for the basic meter charge)

    Quoted from dito:

I couldn't figure out what your output is yearly.

My systems payback will be about 5 years. unless rates go up then it will be sooner.

It has only been up and running for 2 ½ months. Last month it put out 1,480 kw this view you can see the monthly totals. PVWatts est is 13,425 KW a year we are about 10% ahead so far.
    https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/pAc2180504

With a added 3.4 kw solar I am adding PVWatts est is 18,727kw (a year) this will be closer to what we use. I will be at 12.5kw when I get it installed in the next couple weeks.
We have a Chevy Volt we charge two to three times a day during school months.

    Quoted from ghostrachel:

Another $9 month for us here (basic meter charge). Supposed to be 118˚ this weekend, we'll see how much longer our solar surplus credit carries us....

Wow 118 that is crazy. How big is your system?

    Quoted from fattrain:

Has anyone installed a solar system themselves? What hurdles did you experience?
I feel like most of the solar install companies are a complete rip-off...
(example: 40-50k for a system when it's only 15-20k in parts).

    I installed solar array myself 12.5Kw I got a quote for 4.9kw and I self-installed 12.5kw for less money.

I installed Enphase, M215 Microinverter I think they are good for DIY installs.

    Here is the system output.
    http://www.pvoutput.org/aggregate.jsp?id=23064&sid=20945&v=0&t=m

The last eight months we have had 0 usage and we carried $386 worth of power forwarded to the winter to heat with. This also covers charging out Chevy Volt 2 – 2 ½ times a day about 17k EV miles a year.

Here are two good examples on Enphase installs
