I feel bad for you because any "company" that has the ability to repair your game will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with it in less than 10 mins and have it up and working shortly thereafter. If they say anything else, tell them to take a hike. When you say that it worked well for "a while" how long are we talking here? Routine maintenance is expected on any machine. I had a bad socket on my Stargate's display eprom cause something like you what you are seeing on the display. But that is just a guess in the dark without being in front of the machine.
