No question though that health care for people that don't have an employer (self-employed,etc) footing much of the bill needs a serious overhaul.

Tax on income is 45% if you’re earning £150k (~$200k) per annum or more. Frankly if you’re earning that much you will probably have private healthcare (which also isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things).
More importantly, if you’re earning less than £50k (~$65.5k) you’ll be paying 20% income tax, and if you only manage to make £12.5k (~$16.4k) you won’t pay any income tax at all. And best of all - everyone gets the same level of service and attention from the free health services, no matter how much they earn.
