Getting there! Tonight my step-son is having a gaggle of teenagers over so I will likely have a few hours to hide in the basement and get some work done...probably get the bottom of the playfield buttoned up and start on the top side!
Subway is the fun first part....it needs a lot of scrubbing love...
2014-03-20 20.52.57.jpgI love what you are doing and appreciate you sharing it on this thread.
Thank you for bringing this righteous game back from the dead!
No worries. I'm glad others enjoy it. I mostly like to be able to look back and see what I did. It's nice to be able to see the progress.
Tonight should be good. Once the new ramp is installed things will be happening!
2014-03-22 09.02.01.jpgThis is how I know I'm getting towards the end...my baggies are getting sparse...
Still need to repopulate the new ramp and totally tackle the mini playfield.
And of course the entire cabinet needs to be put together when it comes back to me. But progress...!
And I keep reminding myself that I never saw this machine work, so I may have a long road ahead of me tracking down issues. Who knows what boards may need love or how many dead optos I have....

...but what if you put it on and it works like a charm...

Then I would do the happy dance and move onto the next project!
Quoted from NJGecko:Tonight's project if I feel up to it...new ramp (minus the sneeze guards). Not a big fan of them.
I love the clear ramp. It looks so much better on TZ. Brightens up the back of the playfield quite a bit.
I'm suspicious of your "amber" bumper cap... looks mighty orange to me.
Orange I like, but it should be swapped with yellow. The software is coded this way for skill shot.

And I figured i should clean up the powerfield. I almost don't even need to! Here's a shot of it once I undid the topside items. Yet again proof that this machine did not lead a hard life!
Unfortunately two of the switches were missing their actuators, but new ones are on the way!
2014-03-23 19.29.12.jpgI also picked up the "lost flasher" board from them. So TZ originally had a spot picked out for two flashers under the door panel. Lots of optional mods out there to put it back including a whole replacement board, but this pinbits one perfectly fit the bill. Connected into factory location, perfect wiring harness and even came with zip ties. You would never know it didn't come from the factory!
2014-03-24 19.14.01.jpg 2014-03-24 19.24.59.jpg(mods) please move this fun thread into restorations, no wonder I missed it !
(late to the party) Nice going, Gecko!

This is amazing. Considering what you started with, there is no way I thought you'd end up with a machine this nice. Good job.
Yeah, I was debating about that. I probably can, but it's easy enough to get to later. I can't justify a whole order just for those.
Although home depot....
Or you could buff the existing ones... a buffing wheel and rouge would make them pretty shiny I bet.
Look! Need anything?

Powerfield back in. Kind of. I'm waiting on one switch before I can finish it back in place. One wireform back too.
Honestly I'm really really close to being done, but without cabinet, I'm kind of drawing it out....
Not to mention once it's powered on I'm sure I'm going to have a TON of bad switches and other issues to work through...this machine hasn't been played in a decade....

Gettin there! Just hoping the cabinet finds its way back home soon!
If you want a blue clock housing pinballlife has them pretty cheap compared to what they used to cost.
In my opinion the blue looks the best.
I may go that route. My original one had ventilation holes drilled in it. Was hoping to be able to leave the clock as-is. I may leave it for a later project since it was actually working when I tested it two weeks back on a friend's TZ. The clock is one of the easier things to remove from the playfield...
But I may pick up that blue housing just because it IS a good price!
