Quoted from o-din:

No, and I'll probably be doing the same thing tonight as I did last night. Fortunately tomorrow is my day off.
I diid my own smog while I was there as it is now due and talked to the boss for a while. I'll probably end up working for him Saturday to make up for it.
He is really one of the nicest guys I've ever worked for. I asked him if I should maybe just start working two days instead of three or perhaps I need a real vacation for the first time in the six years I've been there. It's the longest I've held any job in my life.
As I drove away, I opened the window and said to him "good help is hard to find" . He said 'tell me about it".

Take a vacation man...
RD NZ ???

Wonder what kind of review these guys left.

This is why I always sit at the BACK of Xcelerator.

Nah, I convinced him a new PACMAN-esque pool (proper Noone Lagoon) or new Flowbarrel 10 for the backyard is just what the doctor ordered!

Foot’s crossed it’ll be doone by Labor Day.

I'm like John Madden as I won't fly anymore.

One harrowing experience on a 13 hour flight back from Australia and NZ 20 some years ago was enough. Fortunately the pilot had quick reflexes and hit full throttle and put us into a dive after the plane suddenly dropped twice and almost went into a stall or Qantas might have lost it's first plane.

So it's road trip or no trip.

Yeah, I'm looking into that right now.

Backyard wave pool is a dream that can come true, and should.

Air NZ is the best airline I’ve ever flown on. Period.
If RD can safely do it twice to three times a year round trip, you sure as hell can.
Coach on Air NZ feels like first class on any other international flight.
I’ll be going again in two years for Pincade 13(?)...
You should definitely join in on the fun.

I believe year 2000 was about the last time I have flown.
Not sure exactly what triggered me to want to minimize flying, but the lack of control for me is a big factor, along with hassles/delays/cancellations.
Maybe I got fed up with people always saying: Oh, it's safer than driving,
...and then there would be a news story about another plane crash or explosion.

I'm willing to fly some day in the future, but mainly just to get to a few places I'd like to see while I'm still here.
Places like: AUS, NZ, The Netherlands, Denmark, Costa Rica, and South America.

My favorite diner in Fullerton just lost my business forever today.

I have no filter. Great food. Terrible service. Two in a row. Goodbye.

I spare them the review, this time.

Irritates me though. Im picky, I take bad service personal.

My money is my review. Everyone makes mistakes, but even after I complained the manager never apologized.

Veronika says everyone makes mistakes. I agree.

I'll go back in 1 year maybe. Probably not.

I guess if I don't officially complain I can't be mad about thier crap staff.

Easier not to ever go back.

Like a wave pool you can surf ?
Oh ya I'm down .

Not just any wave pool GD1, a Flowbarrel 10!

Dude! Seeing as how the boss cut his weekend short and drove down from Big Bear to open the shop, he has given me the rest of the day off! I feel just like Ferris Bueller.
So how to waste the rest of the day? Disneyland? Knotts Berry Farm?

... pinball ...

The launch cable snapped and busted through and cut up the kids leg or foot.

They took the onboard video cameras off shortly after that.

Not a fan of flying either.

Also didn't realize I had taken my family on that ride a couple years back. I was worried about getting stuck at the top, never knew I should be worried about losing a limb or eyeball to a wire cable... crazy. No negative review will compare to a lawsuit.

It felt like the fist of god came down and hit the top of that 747. People in the back of the plane were thrown out of their seats.

Thank goodness it was a 747 as I understand it's about the best built airliner ever.

Try flying in a 707 over the Gulf of Mexico in a raging Thunderstorm in the early hours of the morning (it was 1980).

First jet I ever rode was a National stretched DC-8 in the early 70s. The captain flew on top of the clouds as we made our way to Miami.

Boy did that 4 engine cigar tube of a plane feel safe.

I never flew in a DC-8 (or747). but have flown in a DC-9, DC-10 and once in a DC-3 (also in bad weather).

#273 1 year ago

DC-10 felt like a slug compared to that DC-8. It was a very narrow streamlined plane.

My dad used to travel a lot for work and I have a whole box of decks of playing cards from the different airlines they used to give away.

Glad all was well in the end. The 747 are great, however some flying today are getting pretty old imo.

No, it's just been real hot.

And for me there's nothing more refreshing late at night than Jack n Coke on ice. And another. And then another yet. Makes it really easy to finally get to sleep, whatever time that is.

#281 1 year ago
Quoted from DennisDodel:

18% humidity! It's 72% here in St. Louis right now. And that's low compared to the last three weeks. I struggle to keep my home below 50% and that's with a whole house dehumidifier to supplement the air conditioner. Do you guys even sweat?

Yuck. More than likely you have an oversized AC. Next time the house is due for new HVAC system, you might want to go down half a ton or a ton (depending how oversized you are). You can get a heat load calc that should get you in a better place.

Let us know if you want us to start entering positive reviews on Yelp of you and the business you work at.

Example:
Great service, super cool employees. Will continue to bring my vehicles here in the future, but please put a couple pinball machines in the waiting area to give customers something fun to do while waiting. May I suggest an Aerosmith pro and a Walking Dead pro.

#283 1 year ago

He already said a long time ago I could bring some machines in but it's run out of room where to put em. Big pile of junk (not mine) in the other side of the shop.

Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

give customers something fun to do while waiting.

This is about the only benefit I've seen of smart phones as customers no longer have to stare at the tech or breathe down his neck or pick rocks out of their tires while their car is being serviced to keep them entertained.

Airlines? Give something out these days? Hahaha. Those days are long gone. The only thing they give you is a cramped-ass seat and a little bag with 3 pretzel sticks in it. I just dread it nowadays when I have to slog myself to another flight.

So those are real collectors items then. Sweet!

#288 1 year ago

TWA existed until 2001 when it became part of American Airlines.

So the TWA cards may or may not be 25 years old yet, but I'm sure they are worth something even now.
Lots of people like to collect things that have brand name recognition.

Some of the packs of cards appear to be unopened, thus NOS (new old stock) or NIB (new in box),
...and in premo condition, dare I say, in "mint" condition.

#289 1 year ago

I think all those cards are more than 25 years old. They've been here a long time. But I was disappointed when I didn't find the Pan Am in that box. I think I used it to play poker with some buddies back in around 1980.

When it comes to surfing, there are no collector's items that aren't expendable.

Just be sure to spring for an auto-timer so the Flowbarrel reverts to a skate ramp after dark. Given how much trouble you can get into with an empty bathtub, mixing hobbies (massive water feature + competitive drinking) seems risky! The Flowbarrel's not going to roll over and play dead like that screen door did.
