A pinball cherry got popped tonight; I finally got my first NIB . Tonight, my wife and I brought ACDC Pro LED home, and man, are we excited!!

Just a couple pictures for tonight as we have to unbox it and get it up the stairs tomorrow. Oh man, this is going to suck D: ....I need to just pop the money and get an escalera pinball dolly.....

Woohoo !!!!!!!!!!

Thank God I have tomorrow off from work. I'd go nuts thinking about this game being at home and not being able to oogle it D: ...!

#10 9 years ago

Thanks everyone . I am dying not being able to open it right now. Wifey asked me to wait until she gets home tomorrow =/...

I already have a Premium train coming as well as Pinball Refinery's Shoot to Thrill Cannon, Laseriffic's Bass Drum Mod, Mezelmod's "topper" devil horns, and I am ordering the ColorDMD soon.

Saw Aurich's contributions with Hellen. I'll have to check with the wife on that one. Wifey absolutely adores Luci. She wanted me to get a Luci and put it in the dining room. When I asked why, she told me she wanted to enjoy staring at Luci's curves while preparing dinner. Her words - not mine.

.

I used Tilt Amusements (Trent Augenstein) in Delaware, OH, and yes, I would absolutely recommend him. Super simple, straight forward, and a very fair price considering it was NIB. He's down to 2-3 left NIB, and then that's it.

#16 9 years ago

Awww....hell with it. I just bought the ColorDMD. I'm not waiting around for this any longer; it's time !!!!!!!!!!!

$419.87 (shipping factored in) - oof .

#18 9 years ago

Well, just took a $500 loss by opening the box. Guess whose got two thumbs and couldn't care less ?

Serious question: I have noticed some people actually want these factory boxes. Is there anyone that actually does want this box? I ask because I am going to shred it to get this game out unless someone wants it.

Let me know in the next 5 hours or so, because it will be history later today.

Quoted from flashinstinct:

Take it out of the goddamn box and play it already.... I can't believe this thing as been in it's box for 12 hours!

Just waiting for my buddy to come on over and help me get this dang thing up the stairs. Without an escalera, there's no way I can do it by myself ): ...!

It'll be setup later today .

Quoted from Mudflaps:

And please take a Go Pro of the gameplay. I'm curious on the swinging bell. Stern tells me a kit will be available soon for the original Pro.

I will absolutely take a GP video sometime this week.

I have the following mods ordered and on the way:

Premium Train (GAP, hopefully sent)
Mezelmod Topper light-up horns (notification received that they are on the way, $180)
ColorDMD (notification received that it is on the way, $400)
Pinball Refinery STT Cannon Mod (notification received that it is on the way, $125)
Laseriffic Bass Drum mod (ordered and will soon be paid for and sent, $15)

The other thing I want to order are the Pinbit Bolts. At $140, after popping $4800 for the game and $700 on mods already, I'm going to take it a bit easy ). Won't be long though, and I'll add the Bolts and some other goodies!

Can't believe I finally took the plunge. It is definitely a milestone for me in this short time that I've been in the hobby. Thing is there's only room for 4 machines, so Metallica and ACDC will be here a very long time. JM is getting totally redone (new cabinet decals), so the only one that can move is Corvette. Honestly, this collection will stay put now for a long time. Next real big step is to buy a house to make the collection bigger. Four is simply not enough.

Besides, I want AFM down the road.

#32 9 years ago

Won't be long now.....

Just got to shuffle the games and make some room .

20150318_162206.jpg20150318_162206.jpg

Those amplifiers and power supplies are for the sound setup that fellow Pinsider, metallik does. Should be ready to go and up and running this weekend!

#35 9 years ago
Quoted from Deez:

Just slide the box down the stairs yourself. It's packed solid.

It had to come upstairs . Now I'm just waiting for the wife to get home .

#38 9 years ago

Hey guys,

When installing the legs, where is the "default" for the leg levelers? Do we rotate them all the way in or is it subjective, or...?

#40 9 years ago

We got AC/DC all setup, woo hoo!!!

Here are a couple pictures from tonight .

For those of you wondering how the bell works now, the bell "toll ball" is long enough that when it swings, it hits the stationary target. That keeps your ball from sneaking past the "toll ball" and hitting the drop target. It is not QUITE as swinging as the premium/LE, but believe me, it does swing a good bit, and that alone was worth getting this NIB.

Great documentation. Good to see BTTF posters! All time favorite trilogy . . . Well besides SW.

Thanks!! I kind of like BTTF as well. Even got the car to prove it .

My friend and I felt it needed some "get up and go" so we installed a VR6 turbo-charged engine in it.

It definitely hits 88mph now .

So cool to see you lovely wife helping out and excited about pinball. My female friends absolutely do not care one bit about pinball . Nice Corvette pinball great Gomez design .

Thank you! Yeah, I am super lucky that she likes the hobby. She isn't as into playing as she is participating and helping move machines and work on them with me. She's great .

Corvette is a very under-rated game. The game just looks awesome, and I love the ramp shots and toys on the PF.

So tonight I installed my Shoot to Thrill Cannon mod from Pinball Refinery. I am sure there are 10+ threads on this, hence why I am hijacking my original unboxing thread. I'll just update this thread with mods as I go along.

So first, here are the contents of the mod: the cannon, some wiring, a black cover, and some new screws and zip ties.20150319_183242.jpg20150319_183242.jpg

First, you want to remove the cannon plastic. To do so, you utilize the diagnostics specifically for ACDC and energize the cannon motor all the way to the left.
20150319_183554.jpg20150319_183554.jpg

Next, you take off the 5 screws that hold the plastic in place and gently pull it off.20150319_183916.jpg20150319_183916.jpg

From there, you fold and mold the included black cover so it will fit over the solenoid in a snug manner. Make sure you take off the two screws the hold the solenoid brack to the cannon bracket. If you're really gentle, the solenoid bracket will stay in place and aligned (basically, no need to keep the plunger pushed out).

20150319_184041.jpg20150319_184041.jpg

From there, you carefully fit the cannon in place. Make sure the wood end of the cannon does not interfere with the right ramp. At first, you'll swear the wood piece won't clear, but it will - trust me.
20150319_185507.jpg20150319_185507.jpg

From there, there are two screw holes that will align with the holes in the metal cannon launching wall. Utilize the new screws supplied in the kit. You can tighten them down all the way - just make sure the cannon does not scrape the right slingshot and it clears the right ramp.
20150319_185515.jpg20150319_185515.jpg

Now, you have to find the Z-connector that supplies power to the right red flasher closest to the cannon. Once you find it, take out the original Z-connector.

20150319_190021.jpg20150319_190021.jpg

Next, utilize the Z-connector with attached wiring that came in the kit. The wire colors are aligned specifically to match the wiring color of the factory wiring. In other words, line orange wires up with orange factory wires and the same for black wires.

20150319_190203.jpg20150319_190203.jpg

Next, you want to route the wiring underneath the right slingshot. This is where you get creative as it is a very tight fit. Personally, I loosened and moved one of the slingshot lights out of the way. Then, once the end of the wiring was visible underneath the right slingshot plastic, I took a small hook and used it to "grab" the end of the wiring and bring it to me. I then routed it with the factory wiring and plugged it into the corresponding connector on the cannon. Once again, make sure the wiring colors match.

Then that is it - you are done!

20150319_193505.jpg20150319_193505.jpg20150319_193512.jpg20150319_193512.jpg20150319_193520.jpg20150319_193520.jpg

This honestly looks 100x better than the stock plastic. The LEDs look awesome, and it looks really cool when the cannon lights up with all the lights in the room off.

I took a small video so you can see it in action. Enjoy!

Quoted from Boondocker:

I think Angus is awesome, Angus's mug is AC/DC. Plus this is off a cool album cover.
Actually I don't even notice it anymore while playing?

I agree. You don't notice it when you're playing - at least I don't.

So, installing a ColorDMD into an ACDC LED Pro can be a bit of an "uh oh" moment. Please see this post as to why:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/colordmd-announces-acdc-as-game-18-official/page/6#post-2325556

Not even 30 minutes later, Dmod showed up and helped me fix the situation. I utilized the plastic spacers that the regular DMD used to use, and then I used (2) 1" hex standoffs and (2) 3/4" hex standoffs, and (4) 3/8" 6-32 machine screws. I only had 2 of each, or else (4) 1" hex standoffs would work just as well. Now, the remaining screws in the speaker panel do not come close to touching/scratching the ColorDMD. Thank you SO much, Dmod for providing me the info to fix this quickly. Man, did I enjoy my game after installing this bad boy. No doubt about it, I'll be installing ColorDMDs in any game I own now.

Here are pictures of the setup and installation.

All right, got some more things knocked out tonight. So far, got MezelMod's El-wires on the TNT box in the middle. The El-wires draw power from Pinball Refinery's STT Cannon Mod, so everything is reversible if I ever wanted to remove both of them. Also, got MezelMod's Horns Topper hooked up to the pop bumper flasher.

Also, got the shaker motor installed, and I verified that it does work.

20150322_021106.jpg20150322_021106.jpg20150322_023301.jpg20150322_023301.jpg20150322_025021.jpg20150322_025021.jpg

Got the Premium train on the way as well. Pinbit Bolts will be coming home in the near future (haven't ordered yet).

Can't think of too many more things I want to do to this game. Maybe add from side wall art.

Oh yeah. This is today's project.......

Quoted from thedarkknight77:

So I have to ask, why get the pro?? Especially considering all of the money you are spending on mods. You coulded have had a premium. I bought the pro and loved it, but sold it and bought a premium, loved it more....either way, great thread as I have never been able to see the new pro up close.

I will gladly answer that question. Simply put, I took out two birds with one stone: the Premium is a bit difficult to find right now, and I had never had a NIB before. These machines are starting to get really high up there in terms of NIB prices and depreciation once that box is opened. If I recall correctly, LOTR had a $3500 NIB price tag back in 2003. That price has nearly jumped $1500 in 12 years. Lately, I haven't cared for anything Stern has come out with. Metallica was the last game I was like "Holy sh*& , I wish I could get THAT game NIB...!" as I had just entered active duty, and I didn't have those kinds of funds yet.

ACDC is a theme I "get", and it was a logical choice for NIB to me - especially with LEDs already installed (including flashers) as that saves me a LOT of time/hassle, and the bell working as it should - maybe not quite as "ooooo...ahhhhhh" as the Premium/LE; but at least it isn't a static mod with zero interaction. The game was $4800 from Tilt Amusements, and I know for a fact that price is gone as well. As I was picking mine up from his location, he flat-out told me he was low on NIBs and the price had jumped to $5100 over the weekend with buyers as far as Texas dropping money to get one from him.

You are absolutely right; I am dropping mad money to sup this version up, but to me, that is part of the fun. I have worked on this game more than I have played it - that's just how I am in this hobby, even a NIB game I have to tinker with under 1 week of ownership. All the mods make sense, and really the only mod I have bought that Premium/LE owners have from factory is the model train.

The ColorDMD was a no-brainer; I'll never have a mono-DMD again in any game that has a ColorDMD available.

The cannon was an absolute necessity over the factory "cannon", and the LEDs in it took the design over the top of the ones without LEDs.

The horns were simple and look great on top.

Tht TNT EL-wires were a "we'll make this work" mod. Unfortunately, I did not know at the time that there was a literal solid block of wood in the TNT box, and that basically rendered the "light-up" part of the mod useless. Rather than sending it back, I realized I could still use the EL-wires to the desired effect. I am pondering a way to hollow out the TNT box in order to achieve the full effect the mod had in mind, but we'll get there.

Shaker motor I'm curious about. I haven't even played a game with it activated yet. At $150 with the NIB purchase out the door with zero S&H or waiting times, it made sense.

I typed a bit of a book there - my bad . I just like to explain my reasoning . All in all, I will never look back, and I truly believe I will own this game for a very long time.

Quoted from foureyedcharlie:

Please share your audio setup. Curious on hookup and end result.....thx!

Well, I got this system all hooked up - on Metallica.

I didn't do it on ACDC yet because I'll be honest, if I blew up something on my x < 1 week NIB, I'd prolly hang myself with piano wire I don't even have. So I did it on Metallica, and the results are simply unbelievable.

Credit to fellow pinsider, Metallik, for providing the information and specs on this install. I'll describe things in detail later tomorrow or the next day. I am tired and need to get ready for tomorrow, but let me assure you, this was well worth it.

I am uploading a video now giving a VERY small demonstration. It will be ready later tonight, and I'll post it here when I can.

Details to come soon!

Got my ACDC LED Pro 6 weeks ago or so. I have the shaker and the pin bits lighting bolts and would say they are both definitely a must! The Mezelmods Hells Bell mod is a nice touch as well.

You can use the Bell mod on the LED Pro ??? I figured given the way the LED Pro's pendulum works, the bell mod would be ineffective. It can be used on the LED Pro???

#90 9 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

He's referring to the 'Hell's Bells' sign over the bell, not the bell itself. Hemi did the bell, Mezel did the sign.

This right?

http://mezelmods.com/collections/acdc-pinball-mods/products/acdcpro-bell

I don't see how it will attach and the bell can still swing for the LED Pro version. Maybe I am missing something ?

#92 9 years ago
Quoted from timtim:

man npo the game is looking awesome. Your a good dude and deferentially deserve a nice NIB experience.
Did you even go to the show cause if i had a AC/DC come the same week i would of missed the show HAHA

Thanks, Tim . It has been an awesome experience, and I hope to replcicate it again down the road...maybe AFMr....?

Hell no I didn't go to the Ohio show . I wanted to, but at $4800 plus mods, I was a bit tapped out in terms of play money. Plus, I spent all weekend modding this thing up; I couldn't leave the house ....but it was for a good reason .

#93 9 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

It will fit if you perform surgery on it. Which essentially applies to anything that will physically fit in a pinball machine.
I had to dremel mine for a few minutes to make it fit perfectly.

Really now? You have an LED Pro ? Just asking before I go spending money with a disappointed result....

#96 9 years ago
Quoted from Tmezel:

This was not designed for the LED Pro version. We will make that more clear on the website.

That's what I was waiting for. Thank you, Tim.

I am working on a way to make the TNT box light up mod with EL-wires work. I got the EL-wires going, but with LED Pro has a solid block of wood in there. I'll come up with something soon - hopefully.

#97 9 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

I have a normal Pro. I had to Dremel the sign to make it fit comfortably. If you like it, I'm sure you can make it work even if the LED Pro has a different mechanism.

I dunno my man. I know we want to believe we could, but that block doesn't look like it has anywhere to go on the LED Pro....

I got the Premium train installed tonight .

Here is "before":

20150324_190536.jpg20150324_190536.jpg

Here is after:

20150324_220226.jpg20150324_220226.jpg

Let me tell you, this was a .........testament to my patience. I do not know exactly how other Pro owners have gone about it, but I had to nearly take the left ramp out to properly mount it to the ramp. I utilize a hex screw for the back, as the front hole in the train and the ramp protector hole were a good 1/4" off and there was respectfully no way they were going to line up. I dunno .

I created two alligator clip leads and connected it to the "Rock and Roll Train" lamp in the juke box, so it's primarily active during that song; however, there are other times you hit the left ramp and the light will activate.

Definitely looks 100x better than that static plexiglass picture, but I will say, it was a "trial by fire".

#102 9 years ago

Videos of the train.

First is right before the ball is launched. Sorry about the bass; it isn't THAT loud here in the house. Phone mic must be extremely sensitive.

Here is the train with the game in attract mode.

Install the Pro train plastic on the right ramp against the sidewall. No drilling required. I used the preeexisting screw hole. Looks nice.

I do not see any pre-existing holes except for the anchor screws that go into the hex stand-offs. Do you have a picture of your setup? If so, I would love to do this!

Zoom in and look to the right of the band plastic.

Got it!! I'll see what I can do. It's not like anyone will prolly want the static train plexi piece so might as well make it part of the game!

This weekend, I install the same sound system I did in Metallica. Oh, it's going to be awesome .

I am currently installing the metallik sound system in ACDC. I got the support slide rails and orange superbands on today .

Pictures and videos of the sound system install to come soon.

Quoted from sturner:

Are the LEDs on the AC/DC Pro new? I thought those were made before they were putting LEDs in the pro version. Sorry for the stupid question.
Also congrats on the machine! AC/DC remains the favorite in my collection.

Never any stupid questions .

The LEDs came like this from Stern (already installed in the machine), and it looks like they are using CT.

So unfortunately, the sound setup was a total disaster. I worked it exactly like I did Metallica, and the cabinet speaker was getting nearly zilch in terms of output. I had some weird sound noise like a heartbeat going through my speakers - both the translite speakers and the cabinet speaker. I am guessing I had a bad power supply as I got this with either equalizer and tried it on both the translite and cabinet speaker.....I dunno. I put my game back to factory setup for now until I take a week or two off from modding and just play my game.

Don't worry....I got a new power supply, and if I have time today, I am re-tackling the sound system!!

Halfway done....!

Totally done now, and holy shit is this game loud.

PM me if you want to learn how to incorporate the Boss AVA1404 equalizers into your ACDC. It's like a damn rock concert going on here.

Whatever plug and play "kit in a box" you're getting for $200+, it pales in comparison to this. Absolutely insane.

I will someday . I am looking to build a home, so that will be taking a lot of my time, attention, and money for the forseeable future ): .... HOWEVER, that also does mean more room for pins !!!!!

Hi NPO,
Which year is or was your ACDC pro led?
Did you install the alternative Angus cover?
Thanks

Howdy,

My ACDC LED Pro was a 2014 model. I want to say August 2014.

I had installed the Helen Translite that Aurich here on Pinside so expertly made.

It has since been sold to another Pinsider here locally.

Thanks!
