    Quoted from markmon:

That's bad thinking. It's true if the game becomes worth $0 the second it's out on site. But you but the game for $6500. You get $150-$200 a month for a few years. Then you sell it for $5500 when done. That's how you should look at this aspect.

yeah this comes in to it, but at the end of the day if your into siting machines to make money you'll make a bunch more by just buying some big buck hunters and redemption crap.

    Quoted from sosage:

Every time I enter my local spot, there is someone I've never seen before dropping quarters into the machines. The great thing about this location is that the machines are mostly maintained by the players themselves, which IMO is part of the key to making people interested. Maintenance, availability and variety.
More people have the desire to play these things than we give credit for. Is it popular enough to take over other forms of entertainment? Very likely not. But the demand is larger than we think.

In the year and a bit I've been going to the redemption arcade that has 2 pins near my work on lunches and after work I have NEVER seen another person besides me and my works friends playing the pins. I also catch the staff there giving us odd looks sometimes when all we play are the pins. The TF le and lotr (recently swapped with a new avengers) both looked pretty much new wear wise but both had mechanical issues with switches not registering.

    Quoted from ccotenj:

to be honest, make the darn games simpler, and possibly more people would be "casual players"... simpler would (or should, anyway) result in a cheaper nib product as well...
i think that many "home enthusiasts" don't see the forest for the trees here... deep rulesets, confusing playfields, etc. do not encourage people to casually play... and casual play is what will get people started playing in the first place...
"home users" are a completely different group of people from "casual players"... i think it would be a lot easier to get people to stick money in machines if they weren't so intimidated by many of them...

avengers pro has a pretty simple playfield
