.......Orange Box? Really? That game is THIRTEEN YEARS OLD. It costs money to run servers. You can't possibly expect them to keep console game servers up for that long. If you want to play that and TF2, get a PC. It's not like either are hard games in terms of computing power requirements. TF2 still has a fairly large community on PC, but I seriously doubt anyone at all is playing Half-Life 2 deathmatch.....it was more barren than a 105 year old woman's uterus 7 or 8 years ago...

Nobody is playing them because the servers have been removed, nobody is playing these consoles online anymore, or both.

Yeah seriously TF2 still surpasses Overwatch for online players lmdao so just get a PC. You can have a complete piece of shit and play it still. It’s so damn old. And plus on console you have the poor “vanilla” TF2, no updates or different class weapons.
Play better games!
I honestly hardly ever PC game anymore because of pinball. Way more fun imo

It's time to play TF2 (over 5 years ago really lol) and The Masterchief Collection on PC.

Funny, I've gone the opposite direction....because of pinball. Console and PC is so laughably cheap in comparison, doesn't require constant babying and repairs, and if I want to play against someone, I don't have to find the time and money to go to a location.

I'd still rather play Overwatch. TF2 always ends up with me playing heavy or engineer because I have a team full of douchebags that don't ever defend the base, and short of an Ubercharged medic and heavy rolling in, I can stop just about anyone in 2Fort4 by my damn self as a heavy. It's just boring as hell to do.

Literally the only reason I would play TF2 is to hope I got another Unusual hat I could stick on steam marketplace for 100 bucks.

Oh shame... engi is my favorite class so it doesn’t bother me. Revengineer is such a ridiculous setup

My first blood game for playing online and chatting to people was cod 2. Memories of getting my first credit card (bestbuy) and buying a 42" 720p projection sony tv. Still have it in our bedroom. Re-lamped once. Still looks great. Had ps2 back then and was like MAN THIS LOOKS LIKE HORSE ASS. So I got the 360. Best console ever I think. I peaked there with my videos games. Gears, portal, bioshock, fight night, gta, everything was on there. I have soooooo many 360 games.

Halo2 was amazing. Lines around the block and millions taking off work the next day. True multiplayer greatness. Still my favorite.

I remember trying to dial my cousin's modem so we could play MechWarrior 2 together. I don't think we ever got it to work.

We used to do that with Duke Nuke 3D. That was a lot of fun....until someone picked up the phone and screwed everything up. Lol

is this the online word game where you were presented with a bunch of letters and you had to make up a sentence using the letters as the first letter of each word? a acronym.. then everyone voted for the best one..? if it is that was such a fun game.., I spent hours on that site..

Yes, it is! Acrophobia... the fear of acronyms. It was a blast. Even better when you could get into one of the adult rooms. It was reincarnated, but just wasn't the same.

Loved this!!! And you don’t know jack, was around the same time. Back when ICQ was popular.. all on 56k modems (at least 4 me)

WOW...I'm not sure how many people will understand how amazing this is. My first HD TV was also rear projection, and I swear I replaced the lamp FOUR TIMES in 5 years!

You just have to get the Master Chief Collection. Tons of people online. Play all of the old classics just like 2002.

#27 4 years ago

Master chief collection for Xbox one is great. Upgraded visuals. Halo 1,2,3,4, Reach. So much multiplayer goodness.
And a completely off topic plug for sea of thieves, may not be for everyone, but it’s awesome if you get it and the servers still have people on them.

Digital version (no blu ray drive) of Xbox one goes on sale for 150 occasionally. So pretty cheap to get in on the MCC collection.

But I do agree. It is a bummer that the old games go away... i hope above is wrong on left 4 dead....I haven’t tried that in years.... but this weekend I am going to have to fire up the 360.

Do you have an Xbox One, because both Left 4 Dead games are backwards comparable on the Xbox One and enhanced on the Xbox One X.

I've recently been going through my 360 game saves on games that are backwards compatible on the Xbox One and uploading them to the cloud on the 360 so the Xbox One will find their saves when I play them on there. Pretty simple stuff and I haven't had any issues with saves not transferring correctly.

I also went on a recent eBay spree and bought all of the original Xbox games that are Xbox One backward compatible that I didn't already have (40 games) as well as all of the 360 games that are Xbox One X enhanced that I didn't have (39 games). The backwards compatibility on the 360 covered a larger percentage of the original Xbox games than what 360 games are covered with the Xbox One, but a lot of the original Xbox games would be buggy on the 360. As for the 360 games running on an Xbox One....they are almost all improved, even without taking into the extra boost you get if you have an Xbox One X. Plus we also have Microsoft saying all games that work on the Xbox One now (including the original Xbox and 360 backwards compatible games) will work on all Xbox consoles moving forward....and they should just keep looking and running better with each step up.

I was so glad that all of the 360's Earth Defense Force games hit Xbox One backwards compatibility. They run a lot smoother on the Xbox One X, even without X specific enhancements.

Both of these are on Xbox Game Pass. Just saying.

Agree game pass seems to be a good deal.

Dugfreeze, I have a one S. and a one X. Forgot left 4 dead was backwards compatible. Thought from above the servers would no longer support online multiplayer.

Excited for the next gen as well. Great to see more backwards compatibility AND the controllers will all be compatible.

I got a sweet deal on Game Pass Ultimate when they first rolled it out. I'm not at all interested in the PC side of Ultimate (as my PC isn't suitable for any game above very simple games), but I had been interested in Game Pass, but had never tried it out.

The deal was officially a month long trial of Game Pass Ultimate for $1. What it actually was, was $1 to upgrade any Xbox LIVE Gold time you had to Game Pass Ultimate. So I first paid to get 3 years worth of Gold (the max amount of time you can pre-pay)....and then paid the extra $1 trial offer which converted all 3 years of my Gold I had paid up to Game Pass Ultimate. I'm all set until late 2022 and I consider the 3 years of Game Pass to be well worth the $1 I paid for it.
