In SE CT but watching the storm close as the forecast shows it steaming past the area on Friday. Four days out of course but never hurts to prep as the power goes out in this area in a heartbeat. Generator test run and load banked for good measure, spare gas and propane on hand.

Generator at work has a full belly of diesel as of last Friday, 300 Kw on tap we have enough power there for a week+.

God bless those in the direct path, looks like stout business coming your way.

Bad for the Bahamas, but good for us as long as it stays offshore.

    Be safe everybody.

The seriousness of a hurricane's threat to the US can be gauged in inverse proportion to the amount of commercial breaks on The Weather Channel. If they're still taking their constant commercial breaks, you'll be ok.

Still a few days out for New England, newest forecast shows it ambling to the east.

Local weather guy states rain and wind gusts Friday for us.

Alabama seems to have been spared, thank God!

On the plus side, my parents in Del Ray got to try out their storm shutters for the first time. "It's like a cave in here!"

    It’s getting a little active!

I don't think we need to worry about this one up here.

Yesterdays forecast showed it brushing SE CT so had to watch it close, if anything because work demands it. Never hurts to do a little home prep too, the mrs. likes her electricity and we live out in the woods..

    Quoted from hwyhed:

But it’s Saskatchewan..where you can watch your dog run away for 3 days and still see it-it’s so flat! At least u got good old Pilsner..and wishing safety to all in the path of the storm

Ha! I finally get this joke now. Kept hearing it in the theme song to the Corner Gas show on Prime but never understood the joke about the dog running away for 3 days.

Hope everyone who is impacted by Dorian is doing ok and comes out of it in good shape.

It'll be no more than a stiff breeze by the time it gets up this way.
It's already weakened significantly, and isn't even north of Florida yet.
Nothing like Gloria, Bob, or Floyd were.
We've had pop up thunderstorms around lately which come with little or no warning that can be just as damaging, if not more so.

maybe we should of sent oneangrymo. down to the Orlando airport so he could kick its ass?

Why can't we just nuke this thing?

From the standpoint of radiation it would be very radioactive.

Did you see the video of the dipshit in Fla that wanted the navy to put a bunch of ice in the ocean to cool it so it would slow the weather?

That sounds like a good idea. Its just about as good as the ice making machines they have making ice in the north pole, at least I think it is in the north pole.

No more bands. Getting solid wind and rain now. It shouldn't be too bad. I just now if the wrong tree hits the wrong power line, I'm on the generator for a week.

Nuke a hurricane... scary the radiation dispersement that might give... hell, I might get a sprinkle up here in the Appalachians.

Elon Musk will figure out how to eliminate Hurricanes and Tornadoes. He knows everything.

I for one do not wish the first tree down or anyone losing power, but damn I wish it would head to Atlanta, too damn hot and dry here at the moment for my taste.

    #79 1 year ago

Outer banks is under mandatory evacuation as of this morning.

    #80 1 year ago

As we have family in this region also I wish all a safe outcome and no harm.

    #81 1 year ago

So far so good for me. Had a couple of power blips when it started, but this has been better than the last couple that rolled through. Good luck to the folks still in the path.

Power is out here, we definitely have some damage that I can see as day comes.

Worst is in about 2 hours, then begins to fade tonight.

Stay safe, be ready to hit a shelter if a tornado hits.

Be safe friend. Hopefully you're not in danger of flooding. We spent the morning getting our generator ready, and securing anything that might blow around. Doubtful we see much other than alot of rain and a few gusts but being prepared all the same. Our Neighbor and a pinside friend are staged in Wilmington to assist with restoration efforts.

Between Haarp and Nexrad....you never know.
    Hope everyone stays safe.

Post hurricane report! No injuries or major damage. Some fence damage and the trampoline and gazebo both got tossed around a little, but nothing I haven't repaired already.

We were without power for 2 days, but had the generator going so we were alright. We became charging central for a few of the neighbors.

Hope everyone else fared as well!

    #87 1 year ago

That was one heck of a powerful and tenacious storm. So glad that it steered right and accelerated the heck away from the mainland. The tornado damage it spawned was pretty bad. That's gotta be really scary.
