I got a great deal on a Hurricane recently however the reason for this was because the people who owned it decided the only way they could move the machine was with the head off and the only way that could be done was but cutting all the wiring harnesses on the game! So stupid!

Anyway, we spent a ton of time soldering and heat shrinking all of the wires back together. Tried firing up the game and got a soft humming sound and blown fuses F112, F114. Nothing else. Closer inspection showed that the J115 plug must have burnt out and all wires are soldered directly to the board with a plug connector used a few inches away. J114 looks dark as well. Any ideas where to start in this situation?

What figures with this game is that it is the cleanest game I have come across. Playfield is in great shape and inside the cabinet it looks almost brand new. It just figured these idiots had to cut all the cables.

I noticed that the power wires that were cut came in pairs (thicker yellow wires). Can they go either way when soldered back together?

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!

J115 (GI) being burnt is common in a lot of Williams games. The connector and pins should be replaced but I wouldn't do that now. I would take good photos of the wires and their positions and cut those wires off the board

I would pull all the connectors to the power driver board but the power supply. On power up you will test voltages at the test points and verify everything is correct before you connect any of the other boards.

You can save fuses by buying circuit breakers in values common for your machine. There is a vendor on pinside that sells them.

Once the voltages are correct you can then:
1. hook up the mpu and see if it boots.
2. hook up the display and see if you get dots
3. hook up the sound and see if you get sound
4. repair the driver board and connectors

good luck!
