Lucked into a non-documented HUO Safecracker this weekend.

My brother and I work with a girl, and she over heard us talking about pinball. As luck would have it, her bf won a pinball machine in a contest when he was 12 years old trying to win a Nintendo 64.. so 16 years ago he had a SC delivered to his house while he was at school, and it's been in his old bedroom in his parent's house ever since.

The rest is history...

pics to come

#9 11 years ago

It looks incredible! I am very curious to know how many plays it has on it. I'm guessing the guy didn't know how to reset the audits, so the number is probably be accurate.

wings never installed, still has the white paper that keeps them from rubbing together in storage.
also the protective sticky edge is still intact "Peel Off"

Make sure to do this mod ...

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/everyone-who-owns-a-safe-cracker-should-perform-this-mod

I also highly recommend installing a set of Paul Drabik's playfield support rails if he's still making them.

I've never check audits before, batteries were deader than dog shoot when we got there.

How do you tell full life audits after dead batts?

#22 11 years ago

the guy did his research, but yes the price was very, very nice.

I don't think you can. If the batteries are dead, the audits would all be reset. Just be thankful there isn't acid damage.

this subway looks NOS it's so clean

Looking at those under playfield photos reminds me of what a pain in the a** SC is to work on. Everything is so condensed that you can barely get your hands in there.

dial is slick as snot, beautiful

I swear the PF is just as heavy is IJ's. unbelievably heavy for it's size

Yeah. The first time you lift the playfield on a SC, it's a bit of a shock. Being so small, you expect it to be light, but it's actually heavy as hell. This is why the aftermarket support rails are so important. Do you notice any bowing in the playfield?

Wow, great find!

A miracle the batteries didn't leak after so much time...

The PF does have a rough time going in and out of the game. You have a link to those support rails?
thanks Gweem

That is freaking amazing. It still boggles my mind that these games are still out there waiting to be found. Congrats!

#43 11 years ago

Mine is the same way as far as sliding it in and out. I think this just goes with the territory. Unfortunately, the support rails won't change that. They will, however, make the playfield flatter and the game play better. I'll send you a PM with Paul's email address. I have no idea if he is still making these, but hopefully he is.

#47 11 years ago

Nice! Next time I go to up I-81 I like an invite to play. I know its rude to ask but dont see these machines much.

#48 11 years ago

Hope you all enjoyed these pics! I feel unbelievably blessed to have been able to stumble upon this.

After playing this game, winning a token. . . Safecracker easily solidifies Pat Lawlor as my #1 designer. TAF is easily my favorite game, and SC is incredibly innovative. They just don't make them like this anymore. Amazing that this game has 20 different unique tokens that you could collect, or play for a special round of Assault the Vault multiball.
It really is a lot of fun.

Absolutely, just send me a pm in advance, we're 15mins off 81 near Daleville. I'd love to have ya.

Do you have a tumbler? If so, stick the tokens in it with some corncob media and a little Flitz. They will come out looking brand new.
