    Our third year attending the Saratoga Pinball & Arcade Show in upstate NY was an absolute blast. I brought my son Conrad along with me (his second year) and the two of us couldn't have had more fun.

    From a 1930's Buckley Hopscotch (Conrad fell in love with), to American Pinball's latest and greatest Oktoberfest. There was truly a great array of titles displaying the silver ball. Early SS classics like Seawitch and Nitro Ground Shaker, DMD greats like Demo Man, X-Files, Indiana Jones, T2, Spiderman, and Metallica, and a wide range of both early and late model EM's.

    Almost every game we had a chance to play was on point. Strong flippers, switches and lanes adjusted properly, lights working, and crisp displays. And some absolutely beautiful playfields. Nitro Ground Shaker still has my jaw on the floor. What a fun pin.

    It may not compare in size to the bigger shows. But where it shines is in quality and friendliness. And I saw a fair amount of machines going out the door with new owners so congrats to the buyers and sellers.

    Thank you again Adam and to all who brought machines for us to enjoy. It did NOT go unnoticed.

    I have had a couple folks inquire if a show of this size is worth attending. And I understand where the question stems from especially if your use to Allen Town, Pinburgh, Pintastic exc. I dare say that if you are within a 3 hour drive and have an interest in the hobby it will be worth your time and you will enjoy yourself. I will also note that in my mind, if you are a true enthusiast and are within a 3 hour drive there is zero reason to not support the hobby and the people who make these shows possible, big or small.

    Looks like your son had a great time. Any size show is worth it if we can get the next generation into the hobby.

    He really did! I was amazed at how much interest he showed in some of the pre flipper era games.

    That and the Criss Cross are mine. Glad to hear he enjoyed playing them!

    Great examples of both, even with the Hopscotch coin door. Both really stood out. Do you have any other pre war pieces?

    Yeah, I have the 1932 Mills Official that was at the show last year and I’m working on a Genco flipperless game called Blondie. I think I’m picking up another this weekend.

    Is your Official a full size or mini? I love some of the music pieces Mills Novelty put out in the early 1900's. Really cool stuff. Do you have pics of the Blondie? I have not seen one before and did not find an image online. Your collection of pre flipper pins must be a great conversation starter for family and friends.

    Mine is the mini. It came to me without a stand, and I found an aquarium stand that was the perfect size for it.

    Truthfully, there's very, very little interest in prewar games. They are not exactly plentiful, but they are easy to pick up inexpensively if you're attentive to craigslist. There's a facebook group called "prewar pinball". Join us

    One benefit that I didn't realize until someone mentioned it was that the games aren't as crowded together as they are at larger shows, which helps with being able to actually hear music/sounds/call-outs on the game you're playing.

    Cool. I could see an angle iron aquarium stand working pretty good. That is one of the few Facebook groups that I truly have an interest in joining!

    Yes and that was very true for us as well. Good point! I also am a huge fan of the artwork and in many shows you don't always get to enjoy that part of the hobby. Not a problem at Saratoga!!!
