Getaway: High Speed II, The
Williams, 1992Hi,
I am looking to buy a Getaway HSII game but when I went over to look at it, the display showed a vertical line. The funny thing is it's always visible except when the display shows the "soundtrack La Grange by ZZ Top" screen. This leads me to believe it's nothing wrong with the display itself but I'm not sure. Since I don't own the machine (yet), I can't test the display in another game. Do any of you know what may be causing this strange issue?

Well there is the reseat the ribbon cable or a possibly bad ribbon cable.

If there is a bad pixel in that column the rest of the line stays on. You can see the bad pixel, it's the one that isn't lit. If you don't see one, it's probably not a bad pixel.
As Scorpion90 mentioned above, place the game into display test. If at the end the display says "RAM TEST OK", then the display controller is OK and the issue is probably the display. If the diagnostic indicates a RAM error of some sort, which I believe it will, then the RAM on the Dot Controller is likely bad. See:
