Playland Arcade (State College, PA)
The Pennsylvania State University - University Park Main Campus
1970s, less than decade after opening in 1968.
Closed in 2003.
Operated for 35+ years by my first pinball manager and boss, Gene Steele.

I have many more Playland photos, but this was about the 70s. The arcade changed like a HG Wells Time Machine over the years.

For retrospective of the "days of grandeur" photos I posted before:

The last known public photo ever taken at Playland Arcade at Penn State University, State College, PA before it closed forever.
The photo was shot in the late afternoon hours of operation on 12 December 2003.
The next day, ALL the games were auctioned off for sale at 9 AM.
It was a crazy, feeding frenzy.

Even up to the last year they still carried many of the brand new titles.
TSPP can clearly be seen at the end, and was part of the first production run of that particular game from Stern.
If you look carefully, on the other side, they are already preparing to break down other machines.

A short video documentary regarding Playland Arcade.
The Pennsylvania State University (University Park), State College, PA, 1968-2003.
Playland pinball technician, 1991-1994.

You only need to fast forward 30 years from some of the photos I originally provided.
It is short time capsule to allow enthusiasts the transmutation of arcades starting from the 1960s to its final blows in the early 2000s.
Gene Steele, senior manager, "In the beginning, it was mainly pinball..."
He started each work day at 4 AM.
The video was posted in 2006.
