Here is a picture of the arcade where i spent my youth, and a part of my working days.
The picture is from 1983 and there is no sign of a pinball collapse to be seen. This is only a small part of the arcade, there were about 50 pinballs at any time, ofcourse also the big videotitles, but pinball was the majority. This lasted till 1986 and then some big changes in gambling laws killed the arcade as we know it and gambling took over. Pinball lasted until 2001, but Stern coud not take Williams place and all pinball was removed.

My dad had an extended stay at a hotel in York back in the 70s... where we visited him a few times... I remember the hotel had a Spin a Card pin, and the bowling alley next door had a GTB Wild Life pin... I don’t remember the name of the hotel but it had a great outdoor pool!!!

The Armstrong plant in Spookynook PA that produced the linoleum flood tiles in that photo is now a Sports Center and host of Boys AAU basketball events... also a practice facility for women’s AAU soccer... its huge... there are about 50 basketball courts, along with a restaurant, sports shop, gym, and many other practice rooms over acres of space; great reuse of an old factory.
This 1990s arcade doesn't belong in this 70s/80s thread, but someone here is bound to remember the Exhilarama chain.

I found your post by searching the thread, yes I agree that Circus Circus arcade was huge and it was a blast in the late 70s early 80s. There are a lot of pictures of it (Its called the Midway) on the internet but sadly I can't find any of that era. Always had fun going up there on those Vegas trips back in the good ole Vegas days.
Another good one was Starcade in Disneyland. Can't find any pictures of that one from that era either.

Growing up in Fairfield, CA across the street from the mall in the 80's, our haunt was the Gold Mine. Years later the arcade would move upstairs and become the Tilt.
***Stock image pulled from the Internet. Cell phone cameras and disposable cameras were not invented, and being a kid, I had no Polaroid or "regular" camera. I was just lucky to have quarters or tokens.
GoldMine_9_front (resized).jpgMy arcade BITD was called Fun City at the Park City Mall in Lancaster, PA. Had over 100 machines (verified by archived news article). Had billiards tables, air hockey, two rows of pinball machines, projector games and video arcade games. I know of nobody that has a working projector game - they all seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur. But they were very popular.
Sadly, I know of nobody that has pictures of this arcade. Back then, I would have never thought to take pictures because arcades would always be around.
My other hangout was my local bowling alley Lancaster Lanes which no longer exists either. They had a game room with billiards tables, two or three pins and maybe 7 video arcade games.

This is basically a look back in time. Cool that the creator posted this to our local pinball league.
Well, this little short film bought back a lot of memories for me.
I recall winning an asteroids tournament at a local department store with over 300 entries.
1st place was an Atari 2600 system and 2 games...
No internet... no newspaper write up... I just won and was thrilled.
Back when pinball used to cost a quarter and I would ride my bicycle to the store and spend all the money I made mowing grass.
I don't even have any polaroids from this period, because I did not have a camera, or thought to even need one.
Pre 9/11 and no responsibilities...
