Is there a procedure to get the machine out of the box without cutting it open?

Yes, I am anal that way. I have a new Stern on order and I would like to preserve the original box in case I ever need to repack it.

I simply laid it on it's side and pulled it out. the box will have a "This side up" or something and it's really a piece of cake, as I did it by myself.

Truck this side only goes on floor. Open top of box and slide out. Done. Then fold box, tuck behind pins.
I put packing in bag and store in attic.

Open the box and look at the instruction sheet that taped to the front of the game. It is all explained right there for you.

In fact here are some crappy pics of me unpacking it. I just got to my new house and the METLE was the first piece of furniture lol

WARNING - And this was a WARNING that I learned from someone that used to be an operator. REMOVE EVERY STAPLE FROM THE TOP FLAPS OF THE BOX. Don't just pop the top open and slide it out, take the staples out first. The last thing you want is a scratch down the side of your brand new game. In an arcade, that would have been a bummer, but in your house, ouch.

GREAT POINT! I did this (removed the staples), but failed to mention it.

And be careful removing those staples if you want to keep the box.
They really tear up the cardboard when taking them out.
Even though I sold my WOZ, her box is still in my shed.
