The article references a few of the big DAWs, but I imagine there is good, podcast specific software out there now?
It's free, stable, not to hard to use, and has been around for a very long time.
Goldwave is another audio program, but is geared more for audio processing, and isn't free.
Then, if you want to start getting into multi-track recording/editing, it starts costing big $$$.
