Hi dear fellow pinsiders,

I bought a SST and noticed, that some of the flashers under the flasher domes aren't working.

So I tried to take the domes off to replace the flashes. But I couldn't take them off by turning them as they would do on LOTR for example. Is there any secret to it I don't get?
Maybe I am just missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance.
I am grateful for any suggestion you can make.

This definitely is the most inconvenient (stupid) system of flasher removal I've ever seen.
You have to literally break these flasherdomes to get the flashers out.
Thank you Sega

But nevertheless thanks for your help

I haven't gotten to that point yet. But I'll have to clean the whole pin, and therefore I need to remove the ramp anyways. Maybe I should purchase some LEDs.

Thanks Whysnow
I tried to remove them again. This time I tried taking one tooth out and then twist them and it actually worked.
But it is an inconvenient system though. I broke one flashercap because of the high pressure on those caps.

By the way, to remove the ramp you'll have to take out the Warrior Bug as well.
Isn't that convenient?

Currently I am cleaning every corner of the game at the moment and I have to say, regardless of the ramp and Warrior removal, that the game in general is pretty easy to disassemble. Yes, they've done the GI lamps a lot better on their later games and of course it isn't worth removing the whole ramp and Warrior, just to replace some return lane lights but, take a look at it like this: at least it is possible.

I had to take care of the Brain Bug as well. Somehow it flew of its mounting bracket. I still can't figure out, how that was possible.

The later games of Sega, so the Stern games, are a lot easier to service.
But not all of them are as good as Starship Troopers. I really love the game.
In my opinion it is one of the most underrated games.

Thanks to everyone participating in this thread.
Now I know how to remove those caps correctly.

I got everything removed and reassembled.
In my opinion holes for the connectors to go through could be a bit larger though, or located, where you could drop them down the playfield easier.
It's kinda hard getting them down there. But basically everything worked.

To sum up to get out the domes, from what I've experienced you'll have to press out one tooth, and then twist them to one side. And you'll have to use a bit of pressure there.

Thanks to all suggestions and pinsiders participating
