Please check my work here. I have the Cointaker Red Tremor Shaker. I installed the shaker in the bottom left corner and mounted the control board above it. I tapped into the top post wire of the coin door with the red wire coming from the control board. I ran the signal wire from the control board to the fifth position in the backbox connector using 22 gauge wire and Pinball life connection tool.

From what I understand the signal wire is also the ground that runs the motor? In the standard configuration there is no dedicated ground for the Cointaker setup - only signal and power on the control board on one end and the other end of the board has a ground and power wire going to the motor, so the signal wire must complete the ground, correct?

Quoted from mortenera:

Anyone have that EPROM chip to fix the sound? I can't find one anywhere, but since it is a one use item I thought one or two people here wouldn't mind selling it to me.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to the "Bootflash" section and select the OS8.

I no longer can find the OS8 available on Stern's site.

I installed the Red Tremor Shaker and it works great. I did tone down my shaker a bit by phasing the arms on the shaker about 160 degrees apart. I would estimate that the intensity decreased about 40%; however, I believe the frequency (speed) of the shaker increased somewhat. It is just right now. The shaker adds a lot to the game for sure. I also installed the OS8 sound update just to be sure I did not get the random call outs. Mine had OS3 previously.

I bought the wire harness terminal tool from pinball life to seat the shaker signal wire into the wire terminal in the backboard. I used 22 gauge wire. I also tapped into the power on the top coin door switch as shown in this thread.

I appreciate those that shared the information.

Anyone know if pinbits or anyone else will have the PAL chip available again? I modded my LOTR a few years ago and sold it and now I want to do it again with another machine. If not, I guess I will have to buy an LE model.

Thanks

Quoted from Lermods:

Yes, the one from Pinshakers should work. They are still testing whitestar games, but I’m pretty sure it will work. I tested one for wh20 and it’s really nice. Simple install, all plug and play and very customizable across flashers and solenoids.

I think we are talking about 2 different things. Looking for the PAL update, not the shaker motor.

I recently got a full set, good price and he sells them separately also.

Thank you for that source. I'm trying to decide if I should do a standard and convert it or just buy an LE and be done with it. Does the LE come standard with a shaker?

Just installed my shaker using chips from Matt’s Basement Arcade. Prior to installation I was getting a random call out errors. When I upgraded to ROM 10.2 and did the OS8 upgrade sound issues went away.

This is my second shaker install. The first machine had a red tremor shaker that was at least twice as powerful as the stern shaker, but I went with stern this time just in case the red tremor caused problems.
