So I have a team of friends that I've been collaborating with regarding a homebrew pin. It's now time to figure out playfield art (none of us are qualified to attempt this). Does anyone have any experience with hiring a pinball playfield artist for a one-off gig? I don't want Photoshopped images as I'd prefer hand drawn artwork. Curious about any info that can be shared (referrals, rough estimate on costs, etc). I have alot of respect for artists and completely understand its a huge time commitment.

Have you contacted Pinsider T-800, Scott? He did Wrath of Olympus.

You can try contacting people on Behance... a few might be looking for work

Google "freelance artist" and maybe filter by whatever style you're looking for (cartoony, etc)

I'll look into both options. Thanks to the both of you.

BEhance is where the cream of the crop will be....as well as a higher budget
I'd recommended this guy: https://www.behance.net/KudaMan because of this piece: https://www.behance.net/gallery/9668395/Release

I have an artist of superior quality work, rivals the best we all believe in.

He was out of the loop with a car accident that he is now recovered from, and is very affordable, original work.

Happy to put him in touch with you or anyone. His name is Joey, and heres some pics...

Hi Art. Would you be so kind as to put us in touch with one another?

You could also browse through Deviantart's website (http://www.deviantart.com/) and look for a genre that matches your game's theme and contact them through the site. This is the route I was going to take when the time comes if I go beyond stick figures/pixel art ideas I have currently.

    Good luck!

i would imagine there are a lot of artists in the Chicago area. It may be nice to keep it local. Also there are artists at pin shows sometimes.

Ideally I'm looking for someone that meshes with my artistic ideas, is willing to work affordably, and is enthusiastic about pinball knowing his artwork will be on a machine that will travel to different pinball expos.

Listening to a podcast tonight by this guy. He's a real nut, but a fun nut... looks like he's got a really interesting style that might lend itself to pinball. He's older, too, which might mean he knows how to get projects done.
