Hi guys

How can I close this switch?
It might be The reason why My Junkyard never stops sending The balls.
Thanks

Go to switch edge test and see if it works. It's an opto switch. Pass something between the optos.

If it doesn't work then start looking into bad transmitter, bad receiver, or broken wires.

No opto in the gsme is responding when I trigger them in switch edges.
All fuses are ok by the multimeter.

What does that mean?

#4 9 years ago

Just to be sure did you pull the fuses to check with a meter ?

Next step is measure the voltage on the test point on the driver board. Check the 12 volt one. See if you lost power.

Fuses were in their places. I didn't pull them out. They were all going me near 0 résistance.

How do I measure The voltage on the test point? I never did it
Where it is? What results should I normally read?

#6 9 years ago

Nice colorDMD

All voltages are present and LED's are lit
5 Volt Dig - Pinball is working
12 Volt reg -some switches are working
12 Volt unreg - color dmd is working

I think you missed one connector or splitter when installing color DMD (?)

You can't check them in circuit and get an accurate reading.

The splitter is given by colorDMD.com in case there's already something in J138. It wasn't my case. That's why It's unplugged.

All red leds are solid red.
Is it a good thing?

With The game shutdown and without pulling out The fuses my meter can give me 0 résistance in a blown fuse case?

#10 9 years ago

I changed fuses F101 to F109. Just in case. Not better

#11 9 years ago

630mA vs. 4A
Did the fuse survive ?

#12 9 years ago

In F101?
I tried it and nothing special happened. All leds light solid red.
The game still éjects all the balls 3-4 Times at start up and when Start is
Pushed

Is the LED on the opto-board under the playfield lit ?

#14 9 years ago

No.
Every connectors are good.
No burn marks on The board or connectors

#15 9 years ago

What is powering the opto board?

#16 9 years ago

J138, J140 and J141 have the 12Volt for the opto-board.
Pin1 key
Pin2 12Volt
Pin3 GND
pin5 5Volt

It should measure little more than 12 Vdc between pin 2 and 3.
From there a gray-yellow and black wire are going to the optoboard.

#17 9 years ago

I have The Dmd on 138; it works great
I have a powertap on 140 for my topper(2molex); works great.
I have a connector on 141 with gray-yellow/black in it. It has power because I can power The Dmd with it if I switch.
My opto board still not powered

#18 9 years ago

Check the wires of these connectors on PDB.
Open the machine, lift playfield and check wires on the opto-board.
If you have a MultiMeter, measure voltage between black and gray-yellow wire.

My PDB looks not like your pic. I'm a noob and kind of lost. Buy I love to learn.

Can you guide me with these pics?
And îm shy to say I'm not sure how to measure voltage with my meter. So many options on it!!!!
You're really good Help!

Put the MultiMeter in Vdc as in picture. Probes are in correct place.
DMM Vdc.jpgDMM Vdc.jpg

The picture in post #18 is the 16-opto-board under playfield and is a kind of a interface between opto's and the switch-matrix.

I'm sure you have 12V power on the powerdriverboard but you can measure TP103 to practice.
Machine ON
Put red probe on TP103
Put black probe on TP 107
This should give approx. 12Volt dc in display of MultiMeter.

Same for the opto-board under playfield, red probe on the gray-wire connection, black on the black-wire

Holy s$$t Zaza
You're so nice! You photoshopped my meter???
Wow

Watch this; I followed you steps to measure my PDB voltage. I got 12.49

I left The playfield for next steps and....my god! Opto board is Alive!!!!

Everything' s work!!!!!

Please explain how putting probes on PDB only dud The job!!!

You're on me speed dial zaza. Xx

You photoshopped my meter?

and your powerdriverboard, piece of cake

I think you pushed the wire in one of the connectors with the probe while measuring.

Glad I could help.

#23 9 years ago

Pffff pushed a wire with The probe...do I look like an idiot......meh....
Ok.

Honestly, It can't be that
However, who''s playing junk Yard right now with a cold beer????....The probe guy

#24 9 years ago

most likely there is/was a loose wire in a connector. If it occurs again, press the wires into the connector. Best with machine OFF.

Cheers, I have a small drink as well before sleep, 2am already here.
