After cleaning and de-rusting this Gottlieb part, it seems that the plating is bubbling/flaking (the part is located at the rear of the cabinet and holds the playfield glass up. I'm not sure on the proper name or part number since it's not listed in the parts catalog).

What would be the best way to approach this?

Well...it looks pretty wasted. PBR might have that piece. Otherwise, wire wheel the crap out of it and paint it either silver or black....or have it re-chromed?

Mike O might want to chime in here. He had Mike Chestnut chrome plate a few of these for him. It turns out that they were originally nickel plated and now they do not match. He is contemplating having them redone.

In my experience that particular piece tends to be rusty only on one side. I would. as suggested above, wirebrush/rust treat/sand blast then an acrylic clear to seal and make sure that side is placed downwards and therefore not seen.

Welp, PBR doesn't have them.

Any time I ask about a cabinet or backbox part, they never seem to have it.

Quite right--only the one side is affected. I guess I'll have to go this route. Thanks for the suggestions
