I need a switched service outlet for a mod power supply. I found this thread:

It seems to say he just connected the neutral (white) wire of the service outlet to the switched side of the switch. The ground and hot wires go to the same places as the power cord. In other words, I think he's saying to do this:
I don't know enough about electricity to be confident in doing this without asking however. Why would we keep the hot wire always connected and not moved to the switched side as well? It's possible I simply misunderstood the original post however.
This thread says to move the hot wire to the other side of the switch, which makes more sense to me:
