If you are balancing work-life and family-life balance pick a number that feels right. I know with 7 machines I want some more but I went through the OCD phase with comic books and sold collectibles.
You don't want to be an archivist who spends more time caring for the machines then playing them if you can help it. Taking care of our wooden, electrical part filled children takes work and they are fussy at times .
