Just wanted to get an opinion here. I have a buddy stripping my IJ playfield so I can ship it for repairs. How much would be fair to pay him for his time? Thanks.
If it's a buddy, and assuming he takes plenty of photos so you can put it back together properly, a 12-pack.
Strip it or strip it and meticulously document the process so you have a chance on putting it back together. Pretty big difference. My guess is 100-200 to strip it and around that to put it back together

More like $200 to strip, $400 to reassemble. Lot of stuff to go wrong on reassembly.
More importantly, if looking for someone to provide this service for you, I will first seek references. If you are looking for a rough order of magnitude price, I would say $500 to $750. Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. I am lucky that in my area there are several people that I would deem qualified to undertake such a job.
Best regards,
Tom
You guys must be living near some really nice people or in low cost-of-living areas (I don't mean that as a put-down!). I don't think you could get anyone to do that job in the tri-state area for under a grand.
I was quoting a friend price... if they are cleaning/polishing the parts plus sourcing replacements as needed the cost can go WAY up. I would think a full swap job is somewhere in the 1k-1.5k normally.
If it's just a swap and no cleaning or rebuilding, $1000.
Quoted from pinchamp:Sorry I should have been more clear... Strip and put it back together.
Is the buddy down and out? If yes then pay full price others are quoting. If not, and you aren't comfortable with hanging out and shooting the shit only, and want to throw a bone; do half. He'll either say fuk off or take the money reluctantly. This advice is because you used word buddy, not simply friend.
