I was offer this Getaway today and went to take a look a it.
Owner wanted $2700 which I said it was too much.
I took some pics and I'll explain a little bit how it was.

-Cabinet is scratched all around and faded.
-key from the backbox is missing.
-5 switches and 1 opto are not working.
-playfield has a lot of wear on the inserts, planking (I believe its beyond restoration.
-rubbers are all worn.
-The back of the cabinet is really clean.
-Inside of the cabinet is also clean but has a counter showing 44000 (I guess games?)

Should I buy it?
How much should I offer?

Thanks

$1500-$1800 tops

#3 7 years ago

That's a rough getaway...I wouldn't pay more than 1600 for it. I personally wouldn't buy that at all...plenty of Getaways around

#4 7 years ago

Come on its a black n white LE. That game has serious fade even on the play field. I'd pass. Plenty of very nice ones in a 2700 range

#5 7 years ago

That seller is dreaming getting $2700 or anything close to that. Walk away or counter offer $1500.

#6 7 years ago

Must admit I've never seen a Getaway where the red has completely faded to white, usually there is at least a bit of red left in the cab decals! Playfield is not the best and also looks to have suffered from fading, must have spent it's life somewhere sunny. No way would I pay $2700.

#7 7 years ago

I was going to offer $1200 for it.
But I am not sure if I should buy it. Are there playfields available for ghs2?

#8 7 years ago

I had never played one until recently and loved it! That said, that game needs a tons of work. I would'nt buy it myself at $1200.

#9 7 years ago

Forgot to mention, the bottom of the cabinet on the right side was kind of hanging.

So much sun fade and ball wear.
I would stay away at that price.
Even at 1200 to 1500 you are buying lot of work.

#13 7 years ago

Around 1250 is all i wld pay these days... i bought one about a year ago for 1k that was much nicer condition but needed a cpu and shopped but turned out very nice

I'd like to know where you people are getting your games? I rarely if ever see any dmd games for under $2k these days. i agree $2700 is too high by a long shot, but around 2k is more than fair. This is a top 35 game not some crappy game that sucks.

#15 7 years ago

i would pass. That thing is beat. Offer 900

#16 7 years ago

Actually after looking at the pictures blown up that game is pretty trashed. Some major major insert wear on this game. I'd still like to know where to find dmd games for under 2k though. Please point them out to me.

This is true, HS2 is awesome, but this game is destroyed. If this is a 2k game, then how much are minimally sun faded/ reasonable playfield wear HS2s worth? 3k? 4?....

Someone will give him $1700 for it, but if he wants $2700 he will be keeping it. I would pass altogether.

Restore the cabinet is not really expensive, most of it is labor and get the Decals ($250).
My concern is the playfield, if I could get a pf for $500, and I can get the machine for $1200, I don't see it as a bad deal.
I think there is no reproduction playfields available at this time.

#20 7 years ago

The ones that were available were 800 and they aren't being made anymore

I saw a NOS pf at Allentown pinfest for $600. Guy was close to the tournament booth.

#22 7 years ago

Pass dude....the seller is dreaming.....you can buy a really nice one for that price or less. Don't waste your time with a counter offer.

If you can get one for that price, and the pin for 1200, it might be worth it. I've been casually looking for a new playfield for mine and haven't found anything like that.

roached POS. move along. $1k tops as long as holes aren't burned thru boards.
unless you plan on doing a full restore, why would you want that in your house?

I was planing on doing a full restore, but I don't think I'll find a replacement playfield.

LOL, yeahh, I'll pass.

#28 7 years ago

Pass , not worth the trouble
Look for nicer sample

Plenty available

#29 7 years ago

Maybe it's the camera but playfield even looks faded. It would be nice if that was really worth $2700, then that would make mine worth a whole lot more. But it's pretty obvious it's not.

Not attacking you personally, but yeah, I'm calling BFS on that.

I sold mine sub-$2500 Oct 2014, and it was in WAY better condition than the one the OP is referencing.

Completely different worlds here. That HS2 is a $1500 game absolutely tops. White cabinet, damaged inserts, water-damaged cabinet (suggested by the OP) - NFW that game is worth ANYTHING over $2000.
