We're well into the new epoch.
DMD games feel quaint when next to most modern LED game.
The same way solid state games felt quaint next to DMD machines like Indiana Jones, Addams Family, and Twilight Zone in the arcade.
And I imagine EMs were similarly viewed when solid state machines came out.

I love every era there but each new gen added a whole new level to the experience. And that's why so few solid-state machines were in the top 50 when Aerosmith first came out, and yeah eventually I think the DMDs will get pushed further and further down the list.

    Quoted from drsfmd:

For example, Elvira, Jurassic Park, Deadpool, and TMNT are all currently in the top 25... does anyway really want to make the argument that all of those belong in the top 25 games ever made?

    yes.

It's been over 20 years for MM+AFM+MB+TZ+AF+IJ. They're incredible games and have staying power, but it's not shocking that pinball has released tables that give them a run for their money now.
Modern rules are a huge game-changer imho. And for a lot of people the modern sound, video, and light make a huge difference too.

yeah I don't buy the "protecting the investment" angle at all. If you have coin enough to buy a new pinball machine you're not going to worry if about a few percentage shifts in retail value.
Honeymoon phases? Absolutely. But in some ways I appreciate the reviews of people that have owned the game and spent far more time with it. Some people will be critical and reflective, some people will just slap some random stars and say "ugggh JJP BLOWS".
Either way it's a messy aggregate data set, and you have to just appreciate it for what it is or ignore it entirely.
