As long as the Pinside mess 100 is calculated as a popularity contest for the little companies, all against Stern the big bad empire, there will never be an actual real top 100. The system is very flawed. Small boutique companies and old nostalgia IPs will always win, as people take shots at Stern by keeping all their new titles oppressively lower than they should be.
A true top 100 is only known by sales numbers, which is the only factor that determines which game is best, otherwise it is all subjective. Owners of whatever IP are always going to put their machine as best. The system does not reflect a true top 100 by any stretch of the imagination.
That’s why the top 100 should be renamed to “Owners & Haters top 100 bragging & bashing list”. The way it’s setup is totally meaningless. Old games and new games should not be on the same list imo.
