Still boggles the mind how much folks can potentially spend on mods for their pins.
Paying homage to badbilly27’s original thread in 2013 to see if results and pinheads opinions have shifted over time. (adjusted for pinflation)

So how much in mods have you spent in the last 12 months? Please chime in!

    Nothing

    #3 3 years ago

Usually nothing. In commercial use they usually don't last.

Through the years I've been gifted a few things. Only thing I recall buying was the black frame for the laser etched wizard head on WOZ so it looks like it's floating over there.

Wheres the zero option the poll?
I keep things stock now with the exception of a few lighting changes here and there.

    #5 3 years ago

Need an option for zero. I prefer factory stock for 95% of cosmetic things.

About 20 bucks for lighting scoops and building a dalek scoop mod for a buddys DW.

    #9 3 years ago

    I'm in on one Colordmd

    #10 3 years ago

0 most mods don't do anything for me

    #11 3 years ago

    Zero

I actually had to buy a couple keyless locks for my sterns, but only because I painted the coin doors before bending them; duh.
Add a couple of warm white leds in there...

    Under $60

$100-$300 but that's only because of JJP Pirates. Had to get the chest opening, full starfield and Devil's Triangle mods...those were a must. I'm good now...until I finally grab a Color DMD for my GB Pro.

    #15 3 years ago

If you don't include LEDs, I don't think I am too bad. Only mods I ever buy are sideblades and shakers. I fix up a lot of 90s era games and sideblades are much easier then pulling a playfield to sand and paint the inside of the cabinet.

    #16 3 years ago

Do cliffys count? All I do are LEDs and Cliffys.

    #17 3 years ago

Man maybe $1200, things like mirror blades, some custom mods done by me, several mods from sellers here, so much. I love modding and customizing my pins. I can’t wait to get my 3D printer.

    #18 3 years ago

    I buy what I like.
    What can I say?

Some pins I will spend quite a bit, some I spend nothing.

Everything that’s been colorized gets a color DMD.

    #19 3 years ago

    last couple of years, nothing
will be buying a couple of colorDMDs soon though

    #20 3 years ago

This year, two color DMD’s and two sheets of PDI glass. Mod money well spent in my Humble opinion.

Zero on mods and that includes LED's, never bought any of those either. It's all a waste of money.

Spent just over 3K on TWDLE just recently. My last one had over 4K in it. Now before you say he’s nuts. It was those same mods that he helped me sell and for a nice little profit. I mod the games for myself as I enjoy putting them on. I don’t usually have to advertise a game as someone will see a pix and ask if it’s for sale. Anything is for sale at the right price. It doesn’t take much to get the dollars up there. Here in Australia a ColourDMD from Randy and PDI glass is just over $1000AUD and they are my must have mods. Pinstadium is over $500AUD landed and on it goes. If only our dollar wasn’t so weak against yours at the moment. It does slow me down a little. Last ColourDMD landed was $740AUD ouch!!
    But I still love them.

Pony up Pete. $740 was the last one I landed. Dollar has gained a bit since then though. I love the ColourDMD LCD

Nonsense. There are tons of fantastic mods. Look at what Medisinyl does for example. Single handedly saved RZ.

$39.00, I put the topper on Monday Night Football.

I've spent an embarrassing amount, but in my defense it was to get my two WPCs 'up to date'.
Two colorDMDs, two flipper fidelity and pinsoundplus kits, and a pair of led and gi OCD boards.

Thinking of getting two more OCD boards for my DH but I might just live without them.

Toppers count? Cause it was expensive year for toppers

How many of those people bought LEDs?

    #33 3 years ago

Glad you only asked for the last 12 months. Stretch that out to 24-36, and I’m in pretty deep.

Typically, the first 6-12 months of me owning a title is when the vast majority of the mods are acquired: PinSound and all the extras, color DMDs, lighting, toys, decals, etc.

My friend, I have added colorDMDs since they first came out with AFM
now that they have a display for Star Trek 25th, I can now put one in all of my DMD games

    Lots.

I enjoy tastefully pimping my games out. That's part of the fun of the hobby for me.

Here too..... I almost alway look or ask the opinion of the group before doing anything permanent.

    #41 3 years ago

I bought a lot of mods in the past. Now I’m selling all of them. For me they started to get in the way when I cleaned my games. I do still enjoy factory mods, but that is about it.

    #42 3 years ago

Oh god I’m easily over 3k

    #43 3 years ago

About -$1000. I've been selling a bunch of mods that were sitting around, mostly removed from previously sold machines that the new owners didn't want.
