Bumping this thread so I can find it again. Needed a pic I previously posted.
Why is this thread in the basement and not the lounge anyway? Bikes too vulgar for this forum? Geez it took me forvever to find it on pinside.
Quoted from king-pin:Long live the Honda ATC
Big thumbs up for 3 wheelers!
I have several BigRed ATC's and an ATC 200, all great for tooling around extremely technical trails at meandering low speeds. Great to have the built in internal refreshment coolers you can pack with snow. 3 wheelers can articulate circles around 4 wheelers in tough terrain. Here are a couple of mine...
Quoted from zr11990:I had a atc110 when I was a kid and had a blast on it. Everyone got hurt on it but me. We finally killed it when we were riding it on the green belts in kingwood and the cops got after that us. We ran and rolled it down a hill. That was the end of its life.
Ha! My ATC's I posted the pics of have been rolled down hills many many times. I've never been hurt as I have never used them as speeders. A Big Red is like a farm tractor. So much fun to explore with. So many places I've gone where my 4 wheeler buddies can't follow. A Big Red has the articulation of a Mountain Goat easily transversing steep wooded hill sides full of small trees. That's the kind of low speed maneuvering I enjoy most. I've replaced the plastics and levers more times than I can count. The frames are stout. I've torn my ATC's apart in every which way and they're easy to rebuild. Truly a legendary vehicle that will never die. And it's nice that any part you need for a rebuild can still be found on ebay to this day.
Quoted from Oldgoat:That's my bike!! (actually, I have the comet faring, Corbin and some hepco-becker soft bags). Rode it today. Always puts a smile on my face. That to me is the essence of any bike, regardless of make or style...it should put a smile on your face every time you ride it.
Oh it does have me grinning everytime. I know what you mean. I call it a gentlemen's bike. Everything is so refined and smooth. Your right, feels like what a bike should be.
And I have to confess, my favorite bike changes everytime I pull another one out to ride. My favorite is always the one I'm riding.
I took a tumble 16 years ago from a NightHawk 750 and I'll never forget the scrapes and gashes left across the face shield of my Arai full face helmet from the road surface. Everytime I see a rider without a helmet and especially a passenger without a helmet it makes me cringe a bit.
One of my Vector 2 helmets and my NT700V.
Quoted from Gryszzz:The only thing better than 2 wheels and the wind in yer face is when you got some bros ridin along side ya.
Just. Awesome.
That's gotta be fun. I've always been the opposite though, prefering rides seeking solitude...
I've ridden many Harleys but they're just not conducive or flattering to my ridng style and the environment in which I ride.
As I get older I find more honest to goodness joy zipping around on smaller and smaller bikes.
But I'm a guy with over 5000 miles on a 125cc thumper that gets 100 miles to the gallon and I still can't get enough of it. A veritable dapperling of a full size bike.
Definitely not normal but it is what it is. I ride for escapism and avoid "people" as a matter of course. When I'm invited to ride with a group, well, I just won't do it, no interest.
Quoted from BillySastard:What is it?
A fuel injected liquid cooled 6 speed 286cc 71mpg 2017 Honda Rebel lump of quiet goodliness.
I got a 45 mile ride in before the skies opened up and it rained hard.
This bike has fairly high mid position foot pegs and I was loving the curves when I went a little too far and the front part of my left shoe skimmed the road surface and gave me that goose bump awakening.
Funny thing was the foot peg never touched the road. Eeeek! I'm going to have to pay attention to what I'm doing with my feet on the next ride on this bike, I hate that nervous feeling when I'm not confident how far I can lean when cornering.
Quoted from zr11990:I'm just messing with you about the bike not being a Harley. I would love to have a old antique bike to cruise around on.
Ha, no worries. I'd never be miffed about people liking what they like.
Just about every current motorcycle manufacurer has a retro something or other in their line up if one wanted something reliable but still nostolgic.

Rebuilding and fixing old stuff lost it's appeal to me years ago. Now all I care about is just getting out there every day and riding.
Added a few more fun things to my new SAV, (supermarket attack vehicle) wired GPS mount, driving lights with DRL angel eye rings, bull horn, and a collapsible crate mounted on the back along with a lockable storage box up front.
Now I'm all set for my urban life meanderings ...as well as puttering around rural farm roads on cool nights.
