Finally got my Moto License about 6 yrs ago. In CALI, It's a near impossible driving test. they make you go through an obstacle course called "the lollipop" because you weave through cones at idle speed, then turn two full circles at the top of the weave pattern, again all at idle speed. You are not allowed to put your foot down or you fail. the pass rate is like 25%. since most people cannot pass the test, especially those who own large cruisers with a long wheel base, CA offers a "safety class" for like $300 which takes an entire day of "training" and then they give you the license.

I failed my first driving test miserably. so, for the next two weeks, i practiced the lollipop course and perfected it. the tester at the DMV almost laughed when he saw me the second time. I passed! saving me $300 and a whole day of my time at the dumb safety course.

I rode enduro for a few years, then sold my DR 650 because of the high risk of riding so frequently (i had two babies). I then bought a street legal Yamaha TW200 to ride trails and put around town. I love to ride. I take the kids to the desert to ride quads. I really hope that my kids keep on with this fun hobby, especially desert trips. There's nothing like riding in the open desert. Such a catharsis, kinda like pinball!!

Cheers!

Quoted from Jaeg:

Hey, I teach that 'dumb' safety course. It's the same course in all 50 States. It's a great and fun part time job and most students enjoy their time in class and pick up some riding and safety tips.

sorry for the comment. I just think the driving test should reflect road driving, not a lollipop. I believe the lollipop test is just a funnel to the "safety course" intentionally. we ought to have a shot at success! anyway, if the class was like 50 bucks, I would take it just for knowledge. I just think 300 is a bit steep for a moto safety course with a bunch of other ppl. I heard you get a t shirt though!
