Getting closer to final assembly of my 1949 Harley-Davidson WL (45 cubic inch flathead). Bought it as a basket case 25 years ago in Davenport, Iowa at the AMCA antique swap meet.
I've rounded up parts and worked on it intermittently in between building 2 other Harleys ('68 FLH and '79 FXE). Still have the FLH, but haven't been wrenching or riding due to bad arthritis.
I decided I'd better force myself to finish the 45 before my hands just can't wrench any more. Plus, the foot clutch is a lot easier when your hand is stiff and sore, and I might actually be able to get out and ride once in a while.
Finished the 3 speed transmission a couple of weeks ago, now getting ready to paint the tanks and fenders and put it all together!

Quoted from Blackbeard:

Learning to ride has been nerve wracking, but getting easier. Will be taking course.

Would've been nice if they had motorcycle training in the 70s. My friends and I learned to ride by getting various body parts smashed. Mine was the left foot.
Amazingly, 45 years later my foot is working fine.
Haven't ridden in 10 years - when I finish building my 1949 Harley WL, I plan on putting a couple hundred miles a year on it at the most! No more cross-country touring for this old body...
