Meanwhile...in Indianapolis today...

LOL. Didn't hear about this today. Damn local news. They never report the fun stuff.

See Gryszzz. There's your motivation to learn your tight u-turns. When you're running away from the cops, and you encounter a car barricade, you won't have to do a 3-point turn.

LOL. Good point Super Wood.

That story got no press atall but still lunchtime shenanigans ensue.

Absolutely a gorgeous day for a ride on the 700.

Not pinball or really motorcycle related, my latest VLOG episode does feature my motorcycle at the beginning of the video.

Wood, we need to meet up again! Its been a year since I have seen you! Jason and I are ready to ride!

Man. It has been a year hasn't it. Need to get some pinball action too.

Its a georgous day and I am stuck in a cubicle...sigh.
But I can dream and remember. Here is a much better day from a few years back

Today I bought a new motorcycle, what a fantastic feeling. Like a kid at Christmas time. Traded in the KTM 690 Enduro for a 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R.

Merry Christmas!

The only thing better than 2 wheels and the wind in yer face is when you got some bros ridin along side ya.
Just. Awesome.

That's gotta be fun. I've always been the opposite though, prefering rides seeking solitude...

Is that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Kawasaki 80's?

#563 6 years ago

Getting a new Yamaha FJR1300 soon... very soon!

Chris looks like a Bigfoot sighting .
That's irl too.

My dealer lets me uncrate and service the bikes I buy and doesn't charge me freight, setup, or any nonsense fees. Bought this little gal with ABS for a song and a dance today. She's a sassy little beastie.

Yea, but it ain't a Harley ☹️

I like Harleys but there is a lot more to riding than just having a Harley.

Yea, thank god. Ha ha.

#570 6 years ago

I've ridden many Harleys but they're just not conducive or flattering to my ridng style and the environment in which I ride.

As I get older I find more honest to goodness joy zipping around on smaller and smaller bikes.

But I'm a guy with over 5000 miles on a 125cc thumper that gets 100 miles to the gallon and I still can't get enough of it. A veritable dapperling of a full size bike.

Definitely not normal but it is what it is. I ride for escapism and avoid "people" as a matter of course. When I'm invited to ride with a group, well, I just won't do it, no interest.

A fuel injected liquid cooled 6 speed 286cc 71mpg 2017 Honda Rebel lump of quiet goodliness.

I got a 45 mile ride in before the skies opened up and it rained hard.

This bike has fairly high mid position foot pegs and I was loving the curves when I went a little too far and the front part of my left shoe skimmed the road surface and gave me that goose bump awakening.

Funny thing was the foot peg never touched the road. Eeeek! I'm going to have to pay attention to what I'm doing with my feet on the next ride on this bike, I hate that nervous feeling when I'm not confident how far I can lean when cornering.

#573 6 years ago

I have only 3 motorcycles. My first was a Yamaha Warrior that was modified. Then I bought the 110 CVO Breakout which I love and I bother gah the V Rod for some stupid reason. So I don't have that much to compare other bikes to. I'm just messing with you about the bike not being a Harley. I would love to have a old antique bike to cruise around on.

Ha, no worries. I'd never be miffed about people liking what they like.

Just about every current motorcycle manufacurer has a retro something or other in their line up if one wanted something reliable but still nostolgic.

Rebuilding and fixing old stuff lost it's appeal to me years ago. Now all I care about is just getting out there every day and riding.

#575 6 years ago

Wow - what a machine this one is. My first bike with a fuel gauge also ambient temperature. Love motorcycles!

My first bike with a fuel gauge

I'd love that! I need to have someone follow me with a gas can so that I can properly test out my bike. My new one does have a low fuel indicator, but comes on about 100 miles. Been told that I can go 120 miles on a single tank. I'm too scared to. And from what I can tell, there's no reserve tank petcock.

#577 6 years ago

ha, you said petcock

#578 6 years ago

That's two Bigfoot sightings.

Finally got my official permit today! Been a long journey but feels good to finally be legal-like and all.
Then on the way home a rock cracked my goddamn truck windshield. $700 for a new one...guess I might as well claim it on my insurance huh?

Picked up my 2nd Honda XR 400R a couple of weeks ago. Sold the 1st years ago and missed it ever since. Buy twice, cry twice. What a great all around dirt bike. Nothing like an old school thumper!!

Supposed to be shopping my I500 for Expo but instead spent all of beautiful yesterday working on the 1200. Spittin gas again. Got the bowl out, cleaned it and carb. Twice. Finally get it going. Go on half mile ride through the hood. Dies on me. 3rd time it died battery died too. Pushed that bitch home and set her on fire.

#583 6 years ago

Bought new battery last week, go to change it, and notice that the positive cable is loose. Oof.
Good thing I'm lazy and didn't return that battree yet cause it def needs a new one.

#584 6 years ago

On the plus side, I changed the oil. Shit was blackened and foul. Also threw half a can of Gumout carb cleaner in tank. Then it ran, then it died. Ain't fkd with it today.
It's an 05 1200 with 15k clicks. Guessing a carb rebuild is a must?

#585 6 years ago

Last Sun was my first venture out of my comfort zone. Rode down to campus, did a lot of brilliant 90° turns, stared creepily at coeds, and went to Union here with bowling alley and 3 dirty but good playing pins. ST, FG, and GB. 20170924_123515 (resized).jpg20170924_123515 (resized).jpg

Grzzz. Its been a while since I used it but in the past when I had fowled carbs I would always use "SeaFoam". Available at most automotive suppliers. Cleans EVERYthing out especially after letting it sit for a winter. Do some reading on it and check out a few how to videos. Pretty easy and Really brings it back to new unless you have worn out jets. Good Luck.

#589 6 years ago

Sounds like your float either has gas inside or the float level is wrong. Did you shake the float when you had it out? Also check the orings around the holder for the main jet. Is the air filter nice and clean?
Those super short pipes don't look like they have much back pressure either. Might need to shim the needle down.

#590 6 years ago

Thank you Yelo and Travis. My buddy also recommended Seafoam. Will get some today. My carb gasket is a little mangled, but other than that can't see anything out of the ordinary. Will tear apart again and post some pics.
Yup wc that is the Indiana Memorial Student Union. Beautiful building and has been a favorite spot of mine since I was a grade schooler competing in the state History Day competitions. You alumni?

Yes, 1997 grad . . . although I get to ride all year long here in AZ, I do miss this time of year in IN.

Huh. You were in my wifes class. I never went to college but all my girlfriends did.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me the second season riding my first bike. I was PISSED at the Kawasaki dealer. I took it to them to look at and to change the oil. They said they couldn't find the problem, but it hadn't done it for them recently. Rode the bike home, it sputtered, backfired and died. I get it back home and realized that standing up made it backfire. Checked the battery, and one of the connectors was loose. How the hell can this happen, and not be one of the first things a bike shop checks? So I paid for their labor on not fixing the problem and eventually figured it out myself.

used to own a rigid, absolutely sucks to ride, you need a lumbar support and a mouth guard to go over railroad tracks.

#598 6 years ago

I've had good success cleaning carbs, jets by soaking in purple power. It's cheap , buy it at Walmart. Take carb out and let it soak. Doesn't harm the rubber gasket around the float either.

#599 6 years ago

Have had good luck with seafoam also. It's a good product.
