So How many new collectors or buyers do you think MMR will bring in to the hobby?
I am new to the hobby and not a collector so to speak but excited to play some pins and the MMR announcement pushed my hubby and I to take the plunge feet first based on more possible remakes for us to have a real chance to own and play these great games. We have put a preorder in for the hobbit and have several games being hunted down for us. (LOTR and ECWOZ) The other exciting aspect is the new JJP games and variety of manufactures to choose from now in the market.
Not really sure how it could bring in new players. Maybe if one was on location and they played it, but how is that any different than an OG MM? Maybe because there will be a couple dozen more on location than right now?
This is great news if you thought MM prices were too high and while you aren't willing to spend 12k, 8k is in your price range. It might take money away from the overall LE NIB market in the future though.

Not everyone who's registered on pinside owns a pinball machine. Seeing an MM remake could be just the thing that said person needed to bring them into the hobby of buying their first machine. Same could be said for woz, met, predator, etc...but this topic is specifically for the ones that are making that plunge with MMR

Seeing one is the key. Wow people are digging Chicago coin. What was their last title? If I was new I would not want to wait a year for title. Did you forget the bug when you got your first. It's fun taking a step back. Hopefully they include a connection to comp-u-serve and really transport you back.
I'm not sure I understand the logic for why this game being remade would bring in new collectors? If you're not already a collector, you're probably not aware what MM is and with an 8k price tag ... sure seems unlikely anyone would suddenly decide to jump into this hobby because of this.
Probably zero new collectors will buy an $8,000 pin.
Maybe some older, routed ones for $4k, but even that is crazy money for someone new to the hobby.

I don't know vid. The reason I got into it was because of the Pinball Hall of Fame and Pinball Arcade games from Farsight. Now I know 8k is crazy money but if someone has been playing MM on there for a while and lurking around Pinside for some time waiting to take the plunge I could see a couple of people jumping into the hobby because of this announcement. Especially if they played MM as a kid and couldn't justify the high price tag and now they are going to get a new machine and not a used one. Could make it a little more palatable to dive in.

I know there's one (1) person on here who said this is your first purchase so you are WRONG!
In all honesty, though, i think vid is correct. I would be shocked if greater than 5% of the buyers were new blood, so to speak.
