Sadly, I think we are going to see some stinkers before we are through. Some good ones too. I'm not sure Aerosmith is my cup of tea but it is a nice looking product.

I think everyone has a band idea. I like iron maiden. Could be good.

    Avenged Sevenfold.

    VAN HALEN!!!!!

I'm amazed there aren't any parrot heads on here.

Just thinking off the top of my head there are a ton of toy options here.

    Planes,boats,sharks,margarita blenders,lost shaker of salt.....

You can go on and on with gimmicks for the playfield

Never thought I'd see them come up in a Pinside theme suggestion thread. Certainly something I've imagined before too.

    Quoted from epthegeek:

Tenacious D could be a really entertaining game, especially if Jack and Kyle were down for doing custom voice work. Too many band suggestion pins are just "I love this band, give me a pinball jukebox with them in it". The D has a lot of potential for 'story' and humor that really helps a cohesive pinball game come together.

Rock off with Satan as the wizard mode? I'm down.

Edit: Adding the video for anyone who hasn't actually seen Tenacious D's film. NSFW of course

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion for a Billy Joel game.

If Elton John got one, it's only fair!

Also, Billy Joel still sells out every show. He's a class act for sure.

    Quoted from jgentry:

My list would be below and I think all of them could be successful pins.
    Led Zeppelin
    Beatles
    Jimi Hendricks
    Queen
    Beastie Boys
Not sure why but I think a Beastie Boys pin could turn out killer. The other 4 are obvious choices if the someone can afford the license. There's a lot of other bands that I really like but I just don't see them having mass appeal enough to have a pin or I just don't think the music fits pinball that well.

I like this list. I would add:

    - a new Gun N' Roses pin
    - Bruce Springsteen
    - U2
    - Bon Jovi
    - CCR

    Quoted from mrmark0673:

I think you could do some really fun and interesting stuff in a GWAR pin. Wouldn't be great for a major Stern release, but a boutique like Spooky could do a great job and sell 500 units pretty easy I'd assume.
Not a band with a very large following, but the odditity of the theme would likely stretch beyond "fans" of the band.
Would likely be a very affordable license as well.

Not a fan of the band, but I also thought that would be a fun band theme. Along the same lines, Primus.

    Other thoughts:

    Weird Al.
    Gorillaz.

Well it doesn't have to be a band theme pin but I would love to hear their music in a pin. Scott Pilgrim game brought them to my attention.

Tool, Slayer and Black Sabbath or Ozzy (Crazy Train themed)

    #69 7 years ago

None. Tired of dad rock themes. Think out of the box and create a fresh theme...like Dialed in!

    #70 7 years ago

Absolutely Rush!!! Though this might sound a little corny, but possibly the title of the machine would be Moving Pinballs? Of course, this is from one of the greatest LP's of all time ~ Moving Pictures. There is an extreme loyal following of the band Rush & this machine would sell like wildfire.
A while back there was someone who did a prototype machine w/ the Rush theme. This conversion was done on a High Speed, & he was asking crazy $ for it. I believe $10,000 + ?
Not trying to wander from the post topic, but the worst band themed machine out there is The Rolling Stones. As I always support pinball & such out in the wild there is a RS at a local pizza shop that we frequent often. I walk right past that machine, as Mick on a Stick is the easily the worse & most annoying toy in pinball.

In case anybody is interested in knowing The Knife...

I have a thing for lady singers with accents.

    Don't forget: Steel Panther!!!

Rick Roll Pinball featuring Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up feature means the game last forever because there is no drain
Milli Vanilli Pinball - you press the flippers but someone else plays the game

Seriously though, Iron Maiden could have awesome artwork just by slapping the album covers on the sides.

Time to throw us Gen-Xers a bone.

    Weezer? Foo Fighters?

Someone that's in their 40s instead of their 60s and 70s, or Elvis-Dead?

    #76 7 years ago

I would love to do an OZZY/Sabbath homebrew pin. I live 2 miles from where Ozzy was born.

Realistically I can see Queen on the cards and Van Halen , Led Zeppelin and the Beatles must all be on Stern's radar.

Talk about a massive group of people with disposable income. We go to his shows, travel to his resorts and casinos, and seek out his bars when we're on vacation. Just one machine per M-ville location could sell half the run.

I'd love to see both a Foo Fighters and a Beastie Boys pin made.

This is another one that I think has actual potential beyond "It's my fav band, man" -- If Al was on board.

    Megadeth or Pantera

    #94 7 years ago

One band I haven't seen anyone mention is Green Day. Too political these days, but their early stuff could make a good pin.

    #95 7 years ago

There are still enough big selling has been bands from the 70s and 80s to keep Stern in business for many years to come.

    Styx
    Journey
    REO Speedwagon
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
    Lynyrd Skynyrd
    Rush
    Queen
    REM
    and U-2
    to name a few

Dialed in is a terrible theme.
    Slayer
    Motorhead
    Megadeth
    Iron Maiden
    Black Sabbath
I can assure u my Dad didn't listen to any of those bands

I would love that, or these guys, I would love anything classical also, Mozart, Beethoven or Bach.

I'm a big Motley Crue fan but usually keep my mouth shut around here about it, but seems like a lot of people want that title. It'd be out of my price range though and sometimes having a pin made is kind of ehh (depends how good it plays really), so I don't mind it not being made (yet). Besides, don't really want to hear it complained about in terms of Stern quality - when people say Metallica around here they think of the machine 10x more than the band, hell, a ton of people who buy these games don't even like the band and just buy it for the gameplay.

Did you ever play their arcade game? They didn't really want it but it happened anyways - it's like the Fathom of arcade collecting, expensive $$$$$$. I think it's pretty fun but a lot of people hate it. It played a looped cassette of Separate Ways in the attract mode and in the last level of a game.
