At a pinball machine your ball is out of control very fast, and you need to get it in some semblance of control.

What do you do to get the ball to stop or slow down especially games like

    # Creature from the black lagoon.
    # Fun house.

Where the ball takes a wide arch upon plunge and heads down to the left side.

    Quoted from davjoszie:

    Live catch or bounce pass

    Explain the "live catch"

    Quoted from Chisox:

Dead flipping will usually work depending on where the ball is headed. It’s a leap of faith sometimes but it’s crucial to gain control of the ball.

I had the idea of holding my left flipper up but it bounced and went to the drain.
