How do you replace/install this rubber!?

    Aside from the nut this post appears to be one solid piece of metal. How the hell do you get the old rubber off and the new one on? It wouldn't be possible to slide it over the rim without tearing it. It's a bumper post from a space shuttle btw. See photo.

    To add to LTG s post. Hold the new yellow rubber in the hottest water you can handle. The new rubber will be more pliable. Then quickly shove it over the smaller metal ring.

    I cut the old one off with a razor blade.

    Maybe you could fabricate a cone shaped metal piece or 3D printed part to slip onto the top threaded section.
    Possibly that thing would then stretch out the center of the rubber as you slide the rubber past it?

    I did exactly that on a smaller scale. In this case I cut the tip off a mini post...

    I lube them with Pinballlife's rubber cleaner. They slide on at room temp.
