how do you change out the bulbs around the edges? they are snug in their connectors and are soldered into the board.

They don't just pull straight out?

Looks like you've got one missing on the bottom left, should be able to get a good peek into the socket to see how they operate.

You want them snug or they will fall out all the time. Just grab the socket piece firmly, particularly when putting the new bulb in or you might have to reflow cracked solder.

ok I feel dumb. But they are in there tight.

Anyone know where to get the 555 right angle sockets?

    #6 13 years ago

    cointaker has some cool stuff

You can find just about any socket here:

Also consider replacing with LEDS. Yes they do make them that plug in these sockets.

Couldn't find the 555 right angle PCB mount sockets here.

Get the #24-8804. Just run and solder a solid wire up from the board below on each side. The right angle sockets can't be found or at least I can't find them anywhere.

I have those in my Corvette and they go in tight also. Look real nice. Just watch, the superbrights are maybe too bright in the white and yellow inserts down by the flippers. But that will be personal preference.

Looks like that board is from ST:TNG. Post picks if you go with the LED's. I thinking of converting mine.

I was thinking about some of these .. many of them can be angle adjusted and fit that T10 wedge. I'm sure you can find them on other places too.

These type bulbs are known as "Pinch Bulbs" in the automotive world. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

TZ ben - spotlight is best thing I did - makes it look great - have a green super bright in there and I wired it right into the GI underneath that area - its hidden perfectly

In the pictures I just had the spotlight mocked up with the wires hanging - they are all wrapped and tucked away now with the light lock wiring. and you dont even know its there.

I have the superflex cointaker bulbs in my Taxi, under the character inserts. It works awesome because I directed them behind their faces. The old 44/47 didn't even come close.
