So how you change the score needed for free games on a Bally em?

There should be a jack in the back with a bunch of colored wires on single plugs, and a diagram of what to put where

#capt-fantastic-and-the-brown-dirt-cowboy score cards can be found here: http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/

It includes the "score adjustment" card that should be in your backbox , there is also an adjustment card that should be toward the front in the lower cabinet. when the score is reached to EITHER award a special (credit) -or- to shoot again

this thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/em-pinball-machine-complete-circuit-description-2-bally-monte-carlo#post-5196528 explains it pretty well with a snippit of the schematic

Here is a typical one from Bally Bon Voyage. List your machine name to help get the exact setup of yours. They all should be similar, and there should be a sign there in the back box with the instructions similar to this one. The key thing to remember is that only one wire is used to make the setting. All those other plugs just sit there disconnected, either hanging or plugged into blanks. You pick the color wire based on the scoring range you want, then plug it into the appropriate jack to make the exact setting as shown.

My Bally Wizard has 3 wires plugged in here. The score card on the apron lists 3 “bonus” scores... Is having 3 wires connected here giving a free game at each plateau?

I never thought about putting in more than one wire before. That is not discussed in the operating instructions as an option. But I agree with zacaj, I think it should work. You could test this next time you have the glass off.

First game, and I have owned it a short time... learning the skills!
