A common form of league play is Group Match Play. You divide up players into 4 and 3 player groups depending on attendance and they play as a group. 1st place gets 4 points, 2nd 3 points, 3rd 2 points and 4th 1 point. Variations on this are the 7-5-3-1 scoring system so that 3-player groups score 7-4-1 and the math is nice and clean.

So with four games the best possible score would be (4 x 7=) 28. The worst score would be 4.

What I'd recommend is to try and find another league in your general area and attend a few times. You'll pick it up pretty fast.
